So the HOA is saying you can't have military stickers on your personal vehicle. So much for this vet's pride in his service to his country.

Sounds like someone needs to clean the shit out of his garage... And put his car in it. They can't tow a garaged vehicle.

I think towing a non-abandoned/non-disabled vehicle is also dangerously close to overstepping some bounds of the HOA.. Unless maybe it's a gated community (then the streets are not considered "public")

I would say he should know the rules of his HOA and if he didn't like them he shouldn't be in the neighborhood.. but my HOA rules are an inch and a half thick.. I have no idea what 90% of them are... And I really don't care either.

You think any of those stickers are "advertising"? Personally, I think the HOA pricks need an ass kicking. Maybe he should move on to less controversial stickers that couldn't me mistaken for advertising, i.e. "Give War a Chance", "I'd rather be whacking Tangos", "Kill 'em all and let God sort it out", etc. I'd like to see those classified as "advertisting". They'd sure as hell be more offensive.

Usually when an HOA picks a fight with someone there is more to the story anyway.

Chances are the guy is a douchebag and brought some of this on himself.. Marine or not.

I have no idea how they might fit that description either.

Could also be that the HOA president is nothing but an overzealous sort of self-declared rent-a-cop, like a mall guard on a bad day... as in "Sir, you cannot plant these roses on your property, they are one shade too bright!"

Or he's anti-military. There's more than one way to skin a cat though. This guy needs to start sending requests for financials to the HOA through the HOA's attorney. When the costs start to rise in the BS war, the HOA Board just may reel in the President...

I was the President of my HOA for a year, and we never had this type of crap under my watch.

Usually in stories like this Its the HOA who is in the right but the media does their 1 minute research and screws up the whole thing. This one asshole that lived in my dads neighborhood (gated private golf course community) had two dogs, BIG rottweilers, they used to run onto the course and scare wholly hell out of the old ladies golfing in the morning. I wanted to shoot them but dad said no way so I had to use mace. The HOA some how got him to tie up the dogs but then he took to landing a helicopter in the fairway. That didn't last too long when someone drove a Titleist into the thing. HOA fights can get rather interesting.

Screw Homeowners Associations. I can't imagine living in a place where you "own" your own place, yet are subject to such idiotic restrictions as what color you can paint your own house. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

It beats having your neighbors paint their house bright pink and take apart a Mustang on their front lawn for 5 years.

Yeah, but this story illustrates the fact that the B.S. restrictions often go too far. City ordinances will fix the Mustang problem, and if the neighbor wants to paint the house in garish colors, as much as I may dislike it I will tolerate it for the freedom of us all.

That is what choices are for. I chose to live in a HOA community. When the BS got to appear on the radar, I got involved and took care of the problem. It was a great community; 392 units and a hand-full of idiots, which is better than the average.

Yeah, I understand that. But I could never live with those kinds of restrictions because I've had my Citation up on railroad ties without front wheels and suspension for nearly two weeks now. :)) And I like to shoot wild animals in my yard. :)) And paint the front of my house one color and the back another color. :)) And park my RV where ever I want to. :)) And build onto the house whenever and however I want. :)) And plant lots of trees and rosebushes. :)) And put up lots of ham radio antennas. :))

Edit: And maybe put a Eagle, Globe, and Anchor on the back window of my truck. {drillsergeant}

I live in the County.. No city ordinances out here.

Fact is 99% of the people have no real problem with HOAs.. I wouldn't move into a new community without one.. You just don't know what you are going to get for neighbors.

I couldn't give two shits what color my neighbors house is.. However, I am worried about possible buyers if the time comes to sell the house. HOAs primary mission is to protect property values.

The HOA geniuses in our neighbor decided that real estate signs are verbotten. So if you're selling your house, you can't even put up a goddamn sign. Only exception - for an open house. Signs go up that morning and must come down that night... Retards.

I'm with Queso. Fuck HOA's. I'm going to avoid them like the plague...
