Airbus says no Super Puma replacement before 2030
Airbus Helicopters has ruled out the introduction of a successor to its Super Puma family of heavy twin-engined rotorcraft for the foreseeable future, according the airframer's chief executive.
Speaking at an event in Marignane to celebrate the 1,000th Super Puma delivery on 6 September, Bruno Even said production of the family – comprising the H215 and H225 – would continue well into the coming decades.

ANALYSIS: How shelving of 777-8 could prompt Boeing rethink
Cirium fleets data shows that at 53 orders, the 777-8 represents just 15% of the total 777X orderbook. Only three customers (all of whom have all also ordered -9s) have signed for the smaller, ultra-long-haul variant – Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways. This compares with a total of eight for the -9 (plus one undisclosed customer where the variant has not been announced).

Pilot strike forces British Airways to cancel ‘nearly 100%’ of flights
British Airways’ (BA) flights were virtually grounded Sept. 9, as pilot union BALPA began a two-day walkout over pay and benefits.
“Unfortunately, with no detail from BALPA on which pilots would strike, we had no way of predicting how many would come to work, or which aircraft they are qualified to fly, so we had no option but to cancel nearly 100% our flights,” BA said in a statement issued at 0600 local time Sept. 9.

Bidders line up for Aigle Azur takeover as thousands are stranded
Air France and UK LCC easyJet are among the bidders to express interest in taking over all or part of Aigle Azur, as around 13,000 passengers are stranded after the French airline went into receivership and flights were canceled as of Sept. 7. Potential bidders had until midday Sept. 9 to submit their interest. An Air France spokesman has confirmed making a bid.

All-Boeing operator Icelandair has acknowledged the Boeing 737 MAX grounding as a “big challenge,” impacting the carrier’s financial performance, operational planning and efficiency. “Four months of disruption has been a big challenge. Taiwan startup Starlux Airlines sets launch date
Taiwanese startup carrier Starlux Airlines will begin commercial operations Jan. 23, 2020, with three Airbus A321neos.
The launch date is expected to capture the Chinese New Year holidays, which runs from Jan. 25, 2020, for about 15 days.

Air Antwerp starts operations with London City route
Belgian start-up carrier Air Antwerp has formally started operations on the route to London City, on which it plans to operate 16 times weekly.
Air Antwerp is using Fokker 50 turboprops on the sector.
The start-up airline is majority-owned by Ireland's CityJet with Dutch flag-carrier KLM holding a 25% balance.

MH17: Dutch fail to keep key witness out of prisoner swap
Dutch prosecutors had the opportunity to interview a person of interest in the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 missile attack before a prisoner swap between Ukraine and Russia.
Foreign minister Stef Blok has told the chair of the lower house of the Dutch parliament that the government had been informed in mid-August that the person involved, named as Vladimir Tsemach, might become part of the prisoner exchange.

Oman Air fleet harmonisation among transformation targets
Middle Eastern carrier Oman Air is embarking on a strategic transformation plan, although the company has given few specific details on the effort.
Oman Air says the plan will include "fleet harmonisation" as well as "organisational restructuring" as well as measures to increase digital activity.

Qatar to open Angolan services
Oneworld alliance carrier Qatar Airways is opening services to the Angolan capital Luanda next year.
It says it will operate up to five-times weekly to the city from its base at Doha, with initial services commencing in March 2020.

AAI removes single-use plastics from another 20 airports
The AAI now has 55 airports across India which are single-use plastic free in a bid to improve the environmental viability of the airports.
As part of initiatives towards environment protection, a commitment has been made by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to add 20 additional AAI airports as ‘Single-Use Plastic Free Airport Terminals’ within 100 days after formation of the new government.
