Monarch Aircraft Engineering secures funding
UK-based maintenance provider Monarch Aircraft Engineering (MAEL) said it has secured “significant” funding from its owner, Greybull Capital, after earlier reports that its future might be under threat. MAEL CEO Chris Dare said, “We have made significant steps forward this week in our journey from being a division of Monarch Group to a successful, standalone entity.”

Spain’s Volotea carries 20 millionth passenger after six years
LCC Volotea has carried its 20 millionth passenger, six years after its creation, the Spanish airline said Oct. 11. Volotea, which specializes in linking secondary and tertiary European cities, said it had experienced the fastest growth among any European carrier set up within the past decade. The 20 millionth passenger was carried on board a flight between Bordeaux and Majorca.

New study shows that Austin Bergstrom generates $7.6 billion in economic activity
