UN court orders USA to lift sanctions affecting Iran air safety
International Court of Justice judges have ruled that the US government must lift sanctions against Iran which pose a threat to civil aviation safety. The ruling follows consideration of measures imposed by President Donald Trump’s administration in May this year, when the USA withdrew from participating in a multinational deal on Iran’s nuclear programme.

Virgin Atlantic 747 flies from Orlando to London on waste-gas biofuel
UK long-haul carrier Virgin Atlantic has flown a Boeing 747 from Orlando, Florida, to London Gatwick on a blend of waste-gas biofuel produced by New Zealand-based LanzaTech, using an alcohol-to-jet (AtJ) process. The flight was performed by aircraft tail number G-VROM, operating as VS16, which arrived into Gatwick at 08:50 local time on Oct. 3.

Romania’s Civil Aviation Group Air acquires Air Moldova
Civil Aviation Group, a consortium comprising Romania-based LCC Blue Air and a group of investors from the Republic of Moldova, will take over Air Moldova after the government put its loss-making national carrier up for privatization in August. Blue Air confirmed to ATW the consortium made the winning bid for Air Moldova.

Austrian Airlines, Air Canada to expand joint venture
Star Alliance members Austrian Airlines and Air Canada will expand their transatlantic joint venture from April 29, 2019. Lufthansa subsidiary Austrian Airlines will launch new daily Vienna-Montreal Boeing 767-300ER services from April 29, which will operate 5X-weekly in the winter season.

Aurigny takes second new Dornier 228
Ruag Aviation has disclosed the delivery of a Dornier 228 to Channel Islands operator Aurigny Air Services. The Swiss manufacturer says it handed over the 19-seat turboprop (G-ETAC) on 7 September from its German assembly line in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich, and that the aircraft is the second newly built Dornier 228 in Aurigny's fleet.

New Delhi finalising 'revival package' for Air India
India's government is finalising a revival package for Air Indiathat will include financial assistance and a strategy aimed at making it a more competitive carrier. "The revival package is in its final stages right now and as part of that revival package, we are also looking at what we should do financially for Air India," minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha said on 1 October.

Mexico's Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla Guadalajara International Airport has turned to UK company, The Design Solution (TDS), is help it revamp the commercial space in its terminal.
Airport operator, Grupo Aeroportuario Del Pacífico (GAP), wants TDS to come up with some radical new designs that will transform the retail and F&B offerings at the gateway serving Mexico’s second-largest city.

UK in talks to buy Boeing E-7 Wedgetail Early Warning and Control aircraft
The British Ministry of Defense (MOD) is in talks with Boeing to acquire the E-7 Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning and Control System. The MOD said after a market analysis and discussions with providers of other systems it had concluded the E-7 Wedgetail was the most cost-effective aircraft available and potentially could be used in collaboration with Australia, an ally and member of the “Five Eyes” intelligence sharing treaty.

MD Helicopters confirms Kenyan, Lebanese MD530 deals
MD Helicopters has confirmed orders from Kenya and Lebanon for a total of 12 MD530 light scout attack helicopters. The deal with Kenya covers six MD530Fs, and the deal with Lebanon six MD530Gs, says MD Helicopters.
