American reroutes Asia flights to avoid Russian airspace
American Airlines has rerouted three flights to Asia due to "overflight concerns" as tensions between the USA and Russia rise. Flights between Chicago O'Hare and Beijing, and Dallas/Fort Worth and both Beijing and Hong Kong have been rerouted due to the concerns, a memo sent to pilots states.

Russia’s MC-21 and IL-114 win new orders at MAKS Air Show
Russian-manufactured aircraft—the Irkut MC-21 and Ilyushin IL-114—won new orders on the second day of the MAKS Air Show in Moscow. Russia’s Ilyushin Finance Co. (IFC) signed a letter of intent with Saratov Airlines to lease six MC-21-300s July 19.

Delta sees early 2019 debut for CSeries
Delta Air Lines plans to introduce its first Bombardier CS100 in early 2019, with deliveries set to begin later this year. The Atlanta-based carrier anticipates taking delivery of a "handful" of aircraft in the fourth quarter with entry-into-service early in the new year, says Delta chief executive Ed Bastian during a quarterly earnings call today.

Rolls-Royce warns 787 operators of more Trent 1000 engine checks
Rolls-Royce has warned airlines that additional checks of its Trent 1000 engine powering the Boeing 787 will be needed to resolve ongoing issues with the engine’s compressor. The aero engine manufacturer said it wants to carry out additional inspections, on top of those previously planned to better understand the durability of the Package C compressor of the Trent 1000

F-35 completes most comprehensive flight test program in aviation history
The F-35 program has accomplished the final developmental test flight of the System Development and Demonstration phase of the program. The F-35 Integrated Test Force is based at Edwards Air Force Base, California, and Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland.

Bombardier Gives Global 7000 Longer Legs
Bombardier is boosting the range of its flagship Global 7000 jet by 300 nm, positioning the four-zone business jet to claim the long-range title at 7,700 nm. Bombardier (Chalet 18) announced the range increase April 15, as ABACE was prepping for kickoff, after completing several long-haul flights with the model to destinations that include Sydney, Dubai, and Hawaii.

Air Tahiti Nui to debut Boeing 787 in November
Air Tahiti Nui is preparing to inaugurate its Boeing 787s in early November, which will also mark the introduction of its new cabin configuration. The French Polynesian carrier is scheduled to take delivery of the first of its four 787-9s in October, and it is expected to begin operations Nov. 7

United plans premium economy on the 787-10
United Airlines will offer its new premium economy product on the Boeing 787-10 when the aircraft is introduced later this year, a seat map for the stretched Dreamliner shows. The Chicago-based carrier will configure the 787-10 with 318 seats, split between 48 Polaris business, 21 premium economy, 45 extra-legroom economy and 208 economy, a seat map published in the 1 May update to United's flight attendant manuals and shared with FlightGlobal shows.

TAG Aviation Asia Opens Hong Kong Training Center
TAG Aviation Asia (TAA) has opened a newtraining facility in Hong Kong. Its modern design and advanced training aids aim to provide quality simulator training to every customer and participant trainee. TAA is also the first business aircraft management company in the region to offer training services that include a physical Airbus A320 over-wing exit door trainer. Built by EDM, the trainer is tailored to airline specifications and the certification process for its use as an approved training device is under way. It is available for third party training.

China Driving Bell Civil Sales
China was the driving force behind Bell's ability to increase its civil helicopter order book by 75 percent last year. For the year, Bell posted 251 net commercial orders compared with 148 in 2016.

City officials back Boutique Air bid for Prescott airport air services
A bid from San Francisco-based Boutique Air has been endorsed by Prescott, Arizona city officials to replace air services lost at Prescott Municipal Airport (PRC) when Cheyenne, Wyoming regional Great Lakes Airlines abruptly ceased operations last month.

Flydubai expands European network
Dubai-based LCC flydubai has expanded its European network by launching 4X-weekly Dubai-Dubrovnik (Croatia) seasonal services through Oct. 25, as well as Dubai-Krakow (Poland) flights.
In June, Flydubai will launch services to Catania (Italy) and Thessaloniki Greece).

Egypt to host Aviation Africa 2018 conference
EgyptAir will host the Aviation Africa 2018 Conference and Exhibition on Tuesday in Cairo with more than 650 international and regional aviation personalities, air traffic experts and representatives of 118 airlines and bodies specialized in various civil aviation fields around the world as well as a number of leaders from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Egypt Air expected to attend the event.
