Hi !
A few weeks ago I decided to please myself with a new lens and bought the Tamron 150-600 f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2. First impression out of the box, that thing is huge and heavy, it's 2.140kg and 38cm long with the hood {bugeye}
First impression for shooting, it's not easy to have sharp shots when shooting handheld and will certainly require some practice and possibly a monopod. Here are some sample shots...

I have a couple of Tamron lenses (largely because they cost about 40% of the Nikon/Nikkor equivalent) and they both perform well. That thing looks like a beast, though at 2.14kg it's considerably lighter than the Sigma offering, and probably more reliable.

That shot stood out from the crowd for its clarity. I'm guessing 450mm is right in the sweet spot for your new lens {thumbsup}

How is sharpness and chromatic aberration at longer focal lengths (400-600)?

Any chance you'd be willing to show us an unedited full-size shot? Or a crop of one? Been sort of interested in one of these 600mm lenses for awhile....

I imagine image quality took a hit after that.

I'd have used the old lens {yuck} {haha}
Just once in a while, let us exalt the importance of ideas and information.

At least it was long and wide enough, you perverts {mischief}

Vik, I'd say sharpness is good at 500mm, a bit less at 600mm, and I find chromatic aberration to be very well contained. I can send you some raw files by email if you want to have a better look.
This is an unedited jpg shot @500mm
