Saratov suspends An-148 operations after fatal crash
Saratov Airlines has suspended operations with Antonov An-148s following the fatal crash involving one of its aircraft on departure from Moscow. None of the 71 occupants of flight 6W703 to Orsk survived after the twinjet came down on 11 February.

IndiGo grounds three A320neos amid fresh PW1100G issues
Airbus has informed IndiGo that all A320neo deliveries are on hold until further notice following the discovery of a new issue with the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engine, the carrier's parent company InterGlobe Aviation has disclosed. This comes after the European Aviation Safety Agency stated that several A320neo-family aircraft had experienced engines failures in flight or during take-off, and that the problem applied to a series of recently delivered geared turbofans starting with the serial number P770450.

An-148 search teams indicate retrieval of flight recorders
Search teams at the site of the Saratov Airlines Antonov An-148 crash outside Moscow have located a second device believed to be one of the flight recorders from the jet. One recorder was retrieved on 11 February as recovery specialists started combing through the debris from the accident, which covers an area of 30ha.

London City airport has been closed over the discovery of Second World War explosives in the dock sited alongside the runway. All flight operations for 12 February have been cancelled.

Emirates firms order for 20 A380s
Emirates has firmed orders for the first 20 Airbus A380s which were part of a recent broader agreement for up to 36 of the double-deck type. The Dubai-based airline signed the deal as the World Government Summit opened in the United Arab Emirates city.

A321LR prepares for Paris-New York test flight
Airbus is to conduct the first transatlantic test flight of its A321LR tomorrow, with the aircraft operating from Paris Le Bourget airport to New York JFK. The aircraft, powered by two CFM International Leap-1A engines, carried out its maiden flight on 31 January.

GE begins T408 serial production
GE Aviation has started serial production of T408 turboshaft engines that will power Sikorsky CH-53K King Stallion heavy-lift helicopters. Program partner MTU says an initial contract between GE and the US military – which is valued at $143 million – covers the supply and support of 22 T408-400s that will power helicopters for the US Marine Corps.

Subaru has completed production of the first Boeing 777X center wing box. The wingbox was completed at the company’s Handa factory, and has been integrated with main landing gear wheel wells, says the Japanese manufacturer.

United Airlines is testing a new boarding procedure for passengers in an effort to make the process more efficient. Under the new procedure, passengers will be asked to remain seated until their group is called, using simplified lanes to eliminate crowding at the gate.

Lockheed delivers 400th C-130J
Lockheed Martin delivered its 400th J-model Hercules on 9 February, as operations with the global fleet have passed 1.7 million flying hours. Transferred to the US Air Force Special Operations Command, the aircraft will be converted from its current MC-130J configuration into an AC-130J “Ghostrider” gunship.
