LinkCayman Airways to lease four 737 MAX 8s Cayman Airways is to lease four Boeing 737 MAX 8s as it embarks on a fleet renewal program. The Caribbean carrier, a long-time Boeing customer, will replace four 737-300s that are approaching 25 years of age. The new aircraft, which will come from lessor Air Lease Corp. (ALC), will begin arriving in December 2018 through 2020.

The LCC selected Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines to power its fleet of up to 40 A320neo aircraft. Announcing the deal at the Farnborough Airshow, Germania CEO Karsten Balke said the aircraft will primarily be used for fleet renewal. “This will give us a solid foundation for the future development of business,” he said.
LinkGo Air signs MOU for 72 Airbus A320neosIndian low-cost carrier Go Air is planning to double its Airbus A320neo order, after signing a memorandum of understanding for a further 72 aircraft. “We are very conservative. Whenever we decide something, we make careful calculations. We came to the conclusion we would double our current order for 72 [A320neos] with another 72 for delivery by 2025, giving us a total order for 144 aircraft,” Go Air CEO Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said, announcing the agreement at the Farnborough Airshow.
LinkGulf Air chooses Trent 1000 to power Boeing 787s Bahrain-based Gulf Air has selected the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine to power its Boeing 787-9s in a deal valued at $900 million. Gulf Air in January announced it was ordering 16 787-9s. The contract with Rolls covers Trent 1000 engines to power 10 787-9s, plus options for additional Trent 1000s to power six more 787-9s. The agreement also includes long-term service support by Rolls.

LinkQatar in talks for up to 30 737s amid A320neo sagaQatar Airways group chief executive Akbar Al Baker has disclosed that talks with Boeing over a potential order for up to 30 737s are "quite advanced" as he examines alternatives to his stalled Airbus A320neo deal. The Qatari flag carrier remains at an impasse with Airbus and Pratt & Whitney over the teething problems the re-engined airliner has suffered. This prompted the airline to trigger the walk-away clause in its contract for the first of its aircraft earlier this year.
LinkTUI Group converts options on 10 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, one 787-9European leisure travel specialist TUI Group has converted options on 10 Boeing 737 MAX 8s and a single 787-9, valued at $1.4 billion at list prices. The options, which were firmed at the Farnborough Airshow, are from a 2013 order for 60 737 MAXs plus 60 options. This leaves TUI with 50 outstanding MAX options and 70 firmed aircraft, with deliveries slated to begin in 2018 and run over a four-year period. These aircraft will be deployed primarily on Mediterranean routes.

Four aircraft have already been delivered. The agreement was announced at the Farnborough Airshow July 12. Volga-Dnepr Group is the parent of three major Russian air-freight carriers: Volga-Dnepr Airlines, AirBridgeCargo Airlines and Atran Airlines.
LinkWOW Air orders four direct-purchased Airbus A321s Icelandic budget carrier WOW Air has firmed an order for four Airbus A321s, its first purchase agreement directly with Airbus. The order is valued at $459.6 million at list prices. WOW Air selected CFM International CFM56-5B engines to power the four aircraft, in an order valued at $85 million at list prices.
