Some of the RAF's aircraft will approach 40 years in service (albeit with some major upgrades) by the time they're retired. Not bad going for an aircraft described as outdated pretty much since its launch.

I think you mean the Tornado GR4`s,the Tornado F.3`s were retired from RAF service in 2011.

Slight Freudian slip, I was reading an article on the failings of the ADV and why the original Tornados have outlived it by so long
