Boeing can build 10.4 planes per month in Everett, Wash.
Boeing Co. has received building permits for up to 10.4 planes per month at its production facility in Everett, Wash., where it plans to manufacture its new 777X jetliners. Boeing would set a new world record for wide-body aircraft production rate on a single production line if it turns out the permitted number of planes.

Aeromexico 787 makes emergency landing at Shannon
An Aeromexico Boeing 787-8 made an emergency landing at Shannon airport in Ireland today, following an alert in the aircraft's cargo hold. The flight was en route from Mexico City to Paris when "an alert turned on in the cargo compartment", says the SkyTeam carrier. "The crew decided to divert to Shannon Airport in Ireland, landing without mishap," it adds.

Alaska Airlines is giving aid to victims of state wildfires
An unusual number of wildfires in the state of Alaska over the past two weeks has required evacuations of many residents and some have lost their homes. Alaska Airlines’ operations in the state of Alaska have not been impacted to date, but the airline is doing what it can to help residents affected by the fires. Alaska employees are also in touch with businesses that move tourists throughout the state, such as the Alaska Railroad and the cruise companies.

American Airlines is moving to single reservation system
Stifel’s Joseph DeNardi and Sawyer McKelvey met with management at American Airlines and came away feeling more positive about “American’s potential to meaningfully outperform its legacy peers Delta Air Lines and United Continental from an operating margin standpoint in 2016.”

Asiana Faces Class Action Lawsuit For 2013 Crash
Asiana Airlines is facing a new class action lawsuit from passengers on the plane that crashed in San Francisco in 2013, seeking a combined USD$30 million in damages. Three teenagers from China died in the crash and more than 180 passengers out of about 300 on board the Boeing 777 sustained injuries.

Hawaiian Airlines opens new Honolulu passenger lounge
Hawaiian Airlines is opening a new passenger lounge for business class fliers. The lounge, called the Plumeria, features local pastries and craft beer, as well as free Wi-Fi.

Lufthansa Readies Compensation For Germanwings Crash
Lufthansa plans to make offers of compensation in the coming days to the families of those killed in the crash of a Germanwings plane in the French Alps in late March, a spokesman for the airline said. Lufthansa has already paid financial assistance of up to EUR€50,000 per victim in the crash, in which 150 people were killed.

Vietnam Airlines prepares to receive first A350
Vietnam Airlines is to receive its first Airbus A350 on 30 June, becoming the second customer, after Qatar Airways, to take delivery of the type. The carrier is taking the A350-900 through leasing company AerCap.

May traffic through McCarran International jumped 5.7% over the previous year, making it the biggest May the airport has seen in eight years.

Traffic at LAX grew to 6.4 million in May, a 4.5% increase over last year. Cargo and freight also rose.

TSA opens PreCheck enrollment office at Little Rock, Ark. airport
Travelers interested in enrolling in the Transportation Security Administration's PreCheck program may now do so at Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, Ark. Program participants are given access to special airport security screening lanes where they don't have to remove their shoes, light outerwear or belts.

SpaceX mission failure ‘won't stop space station flights’
Flights to the International Space Station are expected to continue as scheduled despite the total loss of Sunday’s resupply mission, though it may be months before SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rockets can return to flight. Speaking hours after an uncrewed Falcon 9 resupply rocket exploded over the Atlantic some 139s after lift-off from Cape Canaveral, with the loss of its Dragon capsule laden with food, water, supplies and scientific experiments, NASA’s head of human spaceflight operations, Bill Gerstenmaier, said the launch of a Russian Progress cargo ship scheduled for 3 July would go ahead.
