American Airlines is expanding its winter service in Aspen with new nonstop flights from Chicago and expanded service from Dallas-Fort Worth. Aspen-Pitkin County Airport Director John Kinney and Stay Aspen Snowmass President Bill Tomcich announced the new service Wednesday, noting that it was years in the making. Daily nonstop flights from Chicago O’Hare, combined with a third daily nonstop from Dallas-Fort Worth for the holidays, will equal added convenience for travelers, especially for those coming from farther distances. The scheduling was strategic for American Airlines, Tomcich said, allowing timely connectivity from all New York City airports, which in turn makes traveling to Aspen from Europe and the East Coast that much easier.

By a 2-1 vote, the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals instructed the US Airline Pilots Association to defend a 2007 arbitration panel ruling widely seen as favorable to America West pilots, if it wanted a role in integrating pilots from the former US Airways and AMR, American's parent.

LinkJetBlue is adding flights to the Caribbean from JFK JetBlue Airways announced that it will begin service between New York and Antigua, an island in the east Caribbean, on November 5 this year. The carrier will operate the service three times a week, using Airbus A320 planes. Flights will depart John F. Kennedy International Airport at 9:20 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and will arrive at Antigua’s V.C. Bird International Airport at 2:34 p.m. Flights from Antigua to New York will depart at 3:30 p.m. and arrive at 7:18 p.m., also on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

The deal is subject to regulatory and board approval. “Brazil is an important market in United’s global route network and this partnership with Azul further strengthens our ties to the region,” says Jim Compton, vice-chairman and chief revenue officer of United, in a statement.
