Australian contracted survey vessel joins in MH370 search
Australian contracted survey vessel Fugro Equator has joined in the search for Malaysia Airlines’ missing Boeing 777. This is a crucial step ahead of the deep water search for MH370, scheduled to commence in August. The Chinese vessel suffered a defect to its multibeam echosounder in May, and had necessary repairs done on it at the port of Fremantle. Silver Airways and Endeavor develop pilot incentive programs
The talk about pilot shortages seems to have run its course in traditional media. After all, there’s not much more to say right? There’s a pilot shortage coming and we’re all doomed. How often can you say the same thing over and over again? (Don’t answer that, CNN.) But of course, there is more to discuss here. In many reports, the only answer seems to be an increase in pilot pay to make it more attractive. I don’t buy it. I think there are other ways.

Epic E1000 on track for October first flight
Epic Aircraft is planning to fly its E1000 single-engined turboprop in the third quarter and launch a major sales and marketing push for the aircraft at October’s National Business Aviation Association Convention in Orlando. “So far, we have been promoting the aircraft at traditional US general aviation shows such as [EAA AirVenture] Oshkosh to attract owner flyers. However, we want to expand our customer base to include corporate owners and charter operators, for example, so NBAA is the ideal platform for this,” says Epic’s director of sales, Mike Schrader. The $2.75 million E1000 is a certificated, factory-built version of the $1.95 million Epic LT kit plane, the last of which are now being assembled at Epic’s Bend, Oregon facility and will be handed over before the end of year.

Aviation Quote

I have flown in just about everything, with all kinds of pilots in all parts of the world — British, French, Pakistani, Iranian, Japanese, Chinese — and there wasn't a dime's worth of difference between any of them except for one unchanging, certain fact: the best, most skillful pilot has the most experience.

— Chuck Yeager

The Three Pilots

Three pilots are walking through the forest when they come upon a set of tracks.

The first pilot says, "Those are deer tracks."

The second pilot says, "No, those are elk tracks."

The third pilot says, "You're both wrong! Those are moose tracks."

The pilots were still arguing when the train hit them.
