The whole area has been sealed off as there was a minigun and live ammo strewn across the crash site. The weather would have been pretty awful at the time, as was the case across the UK, and it appears the helicopter was one of a pair travelling to a training exercise at a live range:

US Navy helicopter crashes off Norfolk, Virginia

A US Navy helicopter with five people on board has crashed off the coast of Norfolk, Virginia.

Search and rescue operations are under way and it is not known if anyone on the US Navy MH-53E was hurt.
My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

Four of five have been rescued, and the search continues for the fifth. I just posted this in the Daily Incident thread.ShanwickOceanic
