Using PMs

I've got a question about sending PMs here on NAS:

I wrote and sent a PM to a fellow member about 11 hours ago, but still the message shows in my outbox.
I checked the recipient and according to the information in his profile he was not online in the meantime.

Q: Is it correct that a sent message stays in folder "Outbox" until the recipient logs in with the website and thus the message gets delivered ?
Is it only then that the message gets moved to folder "Sent messages" ?

I never noticed this before.
This system would be different from the few systems I am aware of, hence my question for guidance.

Indeed, the message stays in the Outbox until the recipient reads it :)
Money can't buy happiness; but it can get you flying, which is pretty much the same.

Thanks for the quick explanation.
Might be an idea to add this intentional behavior to some future FAQ about using PMs.

Which explains why, after the LHR meet a few years ago, why Minuteman has never responded and why my messages are still in the outbox!!!
