For those who use high pass filters regularly, what's the big difference between those and smart sharpening?

Do you often run multiple high pass filters on top of one another, or is it a one time deal?

I do it once. The key is not to use too much of it.
And let's get one thing straight. There's a big difference between a pilot and an aviator. One is a technician; the other is an artist in love with flight. — E. B. Jeppesen

My larger shots from MIA were edited with the high pass and I honestly didn't see much of a difference in the methods. The smaller ones (1200x) seemed to take a hit even at .1 or .15.
