I doubt there will be much different for me. It snowed on June 16th here last year. I think our high right now is 60.

What's with all the contracts lately?

I've actually been waiting on hearing back from a guy I used to work with for a 12 month contract in kabul.

A guy that I know pretty well and used to train special forces in Vietnam is considering a 12 month contract.

Seems to be alot of contract work out there. The job that I am being considered for is a job up my experience alley but could easily be done by someone in the military with aviation knowlege. I hope I get the job, but its interesting.

I say go for it. Don't forget the money is tax free. If it was me and I was your age, I would take all the money and purchase a house with it as a down payment. Now is the time.

Not so fast. Lucas said he's going for four months. That's not long enough to take advantage of the exclusion. You have to be a resident of another country for at least 330 days out of 12 months to exclude the first $80,000. Plus, he may be subject to local Kuwait taxes. Those are deductible for US tax purposes, but as long as he's a citizen, he has to file a return every year...

Hmm, good to know. I was under the impression that it was 6 months of 12 to get tax free. That's another thing I need to look in to.

But for now, it's off to bed. Worked too much today!

Unless you're military, which IIRC, Lucas isn't.

Hmm. Didn't think about the residency issue. Anyone know if US contractors in Afghanistan have to pay Afg taxes?

Is there such a thing and who is going to collect them?

Nah, I'm skinny enough. ;) Going to be stir fry or fried chicken and okra. I don't know which. I assume that okra does not exist in Kuwait.

Aw...no other fast food in Plains eh?

Ha, Plains has a drive through burger place and a Stageline. Do not come here if you want fast food. The best "fast food" we have is Hutterite, and I don't know how to spell that. There are only 6 dining establishments in town, so you can't even do one for each day of the week.
