Muslim extremists behind a protest against soldiers on a homecoming parade have been driven off the streets today by members of their own community.
Fights broke out and traffic ground to a halt when moderate Muslims confronted a group of about 12 men who regularly preach from a stall in Bury Park - the heart of Luton's Muslim community.
After Friday prayers, more than 200 members of local mosques turned on the group who sparked outrage in March when they disrupted a parade by the Royal Anglian Regiment through the town centre.

I'm not all that familiar with the UK's freedom of speech and protesting laws and I am not advocating censorship of protestors, but this is a very positive sign from the moderate muslim community in the UK. They are willing to show their point of view.

On another note, I have this Azerbaijani friend who is of course Muslim and she makes the funniest jokes about being a terrorist, obviously self-depreciating. She's about 5' nothing and 95 pounds, and one guy actually freaked out on her once... It's sad that there are people that dislike all Muslims, and I mean that in more than just a "wary" sort of person. This sort of action by respectable Muslims is exactly what needs to happen.
