The RAF's remaining Tornados GR4s, which were due to commence retirement in March 2016 with the disbanding of 12 Bomber Squadron and all be retired by early 2019, will now all see at least another year after the UK Defence Secretary acknowledged the RAF's advice that the type is vital to maintain current ops against ISIS forces in Iraq and Syria: http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015 ... -continues

Some of the RAF's aircraft will approach 40 years in service (albeit with some major upgrades) by the time they're retired. Not bad going for an aircraft described as outdated pretty much since its launch.
A million great ideas...

Slight Freudian slip, I was reading an article on the failings of the ADV and why the original Tornados have outlived it by so long {blush}

Fixed.
