Everything that would not belong anywhere else.

Carlsbad Woman Arrested for Affair with Teen

Posted: May 28, 2009 10:21 AM

CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - A Carlsbad woman accused of running away with a 16-year-old boy faces felony sex charges.

Melinda Beth Bridges, 31, was arrested May 7 in Louisiana after five days at large. She was found with the male student. Bridges did not enter a plea Tuesday to a single count of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, a fourth-degree felony.

The two met while Bridges - who is married and has children - was a substitute teacher at Jefferson Montessori Academy, where the boy is a student.

According to a criminal complaint, police investigators on May 1 received a report from the school's principal regarding a teacher who reportedly was involved with a student.

It should never be legalized. It is an inherently inequitable relationship. Minors lack the maturity and perspective to enter relationships with adults. They are far too prone to manipulation by the adult.
Look, it's been swell, but the swelling's gone down.

If you want to have an age of consent discussion, then lets just call it that...not carryover flamebait from the other thread.

Remember, that age varies by state anyway, but 18 being the norm. I tend to think it should be lowered to 16 myself. If you can drive a car and carry the responsibility of that, I think you can decide you want to screw. But thats just me.

Not to mention there are other reasons why these sorts of relationships aren't and should not be permitted, regardless of age.

Yep, lots of dynamics to these stories when you throw age of consent into the mix. Fascinating how one can be illegal one day and legal the next, isn't it?

Well, that depends on society's definition of "minor", not all 21 year-olds have the maturity and perspective that you mention. Conversely, some 16 year-olds do.

Now why couldn't my smoking hot geography teacher have done this with me? The closest any of us got to sexual contact with her was taking a high-velocity blackboard eraser to the nuts. {grumpy} If she hurled it particularly hard you might get a quick peek down her top before the pain hit. {bugeye} It was worth it.

A bit OT, but personally I don't think most 16-year-olds should be driving. I don't know what the right age is, but 18 is closer. I learned to fly at a relatively mature (I'm told) 17, and even with the safety culture you get in aviation I still did the odd silly thing out in the practice area.
My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

I bang HS girls on occasion, nothing comes of it. They're all usually 18 though. Never gone full Wooderson that I know of.

Still, if you were banging your teacher who was hot...why would you tell anyone about it? What idiots.

Is it just me, or is anybody else trying to figure out how she "penetrated" him?

In many countries (including the UK), he isn't even a minor. At sixteen he should be more than capable of making his own decisions - he is, after all, legally allowed to own a gun and have a ppl and driving license in the US, though he's five years away from being able to drink and two years away from legally having sex {crazy}
A million great ideas...

Quick correction - you can't own a gun in the US til you're 18. This kid is 16.
