My girlfriend got me a flying lesson for my birthday (I think) that year. I got to fly everything but the landing, which enabled me to take some photos of us approaching Van Nuys. (Powershot A530)

VORs - by ShanwickOceanic
I don't know why I like 'em. I just do.

Never been there but I recognised it instantly. Must have watched "One Six Right" too often. :) I guess that's a VOR just behind the trees?

I think that's a VOR, yeah (not really well versed in that sort of stuff). I love "One Six Right"! Always watch it when I catch it on TV.

Why such a hugely displaced threshold . . .
vikkyvik27 Jun 12, 04:40
Not sure. 16R's ILS has a glidepath of 3.9 degrees, which is pretty steep as well. I'd guess that's because of the mountains to the north. Not sure about the threshold, though.
