Couldn't really tell you why I took this, except that I love clear days when the mountains of Malibu provide the backdrop. Looking across 7R at the localizer for 25R. Those dunes always seem so close... (50D + 300 F4L IS)

Nothing wrong with a nice localizer shot! Any idea what the three in the foreground are? Never seen anything like them.

Don't know. There are a bunch like them at LAX....been meaning to ask about it.
ShanwickOceanic21 Jan 13, 21:28
Looking at Google Earth, they seem to be part of an array centred around the TDZ... but only 7L and 7R have them. There seem to be conventional G/S antennas though, so I'm stumped.

Interesting, you're right. Every time I see them I think "I gotta ask about those". But then I get home, and the couch and TV are just so inviting....

Just for the record, turns out they're glideslope antennas: http://www.netairspace.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=16765

Indeed. I thought we discussed it in a thread - or maybe another photo - and figured it out.

OK, I probably should have looked at the link you posted. Yes, that would have been the thread.
