March 8: Malaysian Air Systems MH-370, a Boeing 777-200ER (9M-MRO) as a code share with China Southern Airlines Flight CZ748, disappeared at 01:22L en-route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur. There were 227 passengers aboard and 12 crew members.
 
Airbus Industrie Airbus A350-941 (F-WWCF) at  Hamburg - Finkenwerder, Germany
September 30: Airbus A350-900 receives EASA Certification.
 
October 13: The Wright Amendment expires.
 
October 26: Final scheduled passenger flight of the McDonnell-Douglas MD-11 (PH-KCE). KLM Flight 672 from Montreal landed at Amsterdam at 6:35 Local time to a water canon salute.
 
December 28: Boeing completed a 3h, 32min flight of the 767-2C prototype that will be modified to become the first US Air Force KC-46A tanker.
 
December 28: AirTran’s Flight Number 1 from Tampa to Atlanta was the carrier’s final flight. AirTran had been purchased by and absorbed into Southwest Airlines. Most of the defunct carrier’s airplanes were immediately ferried to Goodyear, Arizona (GYR) for storage.
