Honestly, I don't think we can compensate him enough.

I completely agree.

I've been reading this thread since it was posted and decided not to say anything until now. The only point I really have to make is that for someone to write a bad review simply because they weren't listened to is incredulous. Considering this website was built and is run by an all volunteer crew, perhaps said upset persons could take a proactive approach and offer to help since they seem to be able to do so much better than those currently. But it seems they'd much rather take the easy way out, create a mess and leave, and destroy their credibility in the process. Sad really.

I will also say that there are a couple things I may not agree with here. But I realize this site is a work in progress and in the grand scheme of things are not worthy enough to complain about and who knows, they may just end up working themselves out in time. But i'm not going to start writing bad reviews of places just because I can.

Especially, IMO, because about thirty people - the people that ponied up the launch $$$ for this site - have spent COUNTLESS hours trying desperately to make it everything for everyone, even the douchebags, and then get it shoved up our fannies because one pointy-head gets his (her?) panties twisted.

Well. Too bad. Next time Pony up the $$$ and YOU can have a vote too. Kinda like registering for no party and then not being allowed to vote in the primary and then being mad at the result. Simply stupid to me?

But what the hell do I know.

Where's the LOSER smilie when I need it for spoiled brats?

I think that is a good idea, a good plan. The only thing I would say is to also echo the guys here that the upload limit should be increased for free membership. The reason I say this is, with due respect, this site hasn't been as "established" as jp.net and a.net with regards strictly to photography. That has nothing to do with the site, just the photography aspect. I believe it will be one day, but a photographer that is new to the site might not think they will be getting the proper exposure by uploading here as opposed to jp.net and a.net.

Once NAS has established itself I think that won't be a problem.

I'm sorry I didn't support the site in its infancy and that was due to financial restrains on my end amongst other things.

I'll talk a little about the non aviation side. Don't take this as anything but my perspective, but as one of the members that doesn't align politically with the hive mind here I find myself outnumbered quite a bit. That isn't just for politics, I see it in the other forums as well. I'd like to think people can see past politics, and there are some who can, but others who cannot. I like talking about politics but not here as much anymore. It seems as though every post I make I get 4-5 people responding. That's okay it's only the internet, but sometimes I just skip the threads anymore. The moderation I've found to be good overall and I appreciate that.

Anyway that's all I have for now, but I will add more if I think about it. Thanks to everyone who has spent countless hours making this site what it is. Hopefully I can contribute in some way sometimes but until then Lucas will do that for me so I can post stupid things :)).

Thanks for listening or reading if you did.

I fully agree with you here.

One problem with raising the upload limits - the more free upload slots we offer, the less members will see a need to buy more, through a paid membership.

That may sound cold and calculating, but as a matter of fact, we have to establish a business model that covers the expenses.

In the end, it will all be about finding the right balance. Too few slots, and many photogs may prefer to stay away. Too many slots, and many photogs will not see a need to get a paid membership.

We will monitor the situation, and keep adjusting the numbers, when needed.

As a result of this thread, as mentioned before, we will switch to 5 slots per week for Economy members, and 20 slots for Business members. The limits have not been implemented yet, so no harm has been done so far. :)

Do not worry about that. We always said that no one should feel obliged to add financial support.

There is no denying that our Politics forum overall has a conservative leaning. But that cannot be helped. There is no way to balance it. Everybody (crew and members) does their best to establish a civil tone in the discussions, but that's really all we can do about it.

Thanks for your feedback! And remember to upload those photos. :)

I wouldn't worry about that too much Dave. You're young and perhaps not as "established" as some others here. Don't take that wrong, as I mean nothing derogatory by it at all, I just couldn't think of a better descriptor. I'd like to be doing more myself - but just can't right now. Not to mention Zak's point below.

I wouldn't worry about that too much either. While I am one of those you mention in the hive, you stand your ground pretty good, and can make your case......

Sometimes. ;)

Thanks for your feedback. So long as the Forum Rules are followed there shouldn't be any problems. Things may get "lively" in the Politics forum, but I don't see it happening in the the Civ-Av forums. If you should come across something that violates the Forum Rules, report the post or PM one of the moderators.
And let's get one thing straight. There's a big difference between a pilot and an aviator. One is a technician; the other is an artist in love with flight. — E. B. Jeppesen
