And let's get one thing straight. There's a big difference between a pilot and an aviator. One is a technician; the other is an artist in love with flight. — E. B. Jeppesen

I'll go for pretty much anything, but I do prefer metal or heavy metal. My favourites are Iron Maiden, Tristania, Nightwish, Evanescence, Pink Floyd, Guns and Roses and Metallica - but there are just so many great bands to chose from :D

Just to be lazy, I'll copy a list of some of the older/less heavy artists which I listen to:

Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Blondie, Boston, Breaking Benjamin, Chris de Burgh, Clannad, Deep Purple, Enya, Eurythmics, Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, Guns and Roses, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Mike Oldfield, Nickelback, Pink Floyd, Plumb, Queen, Rammstein, REM, Sting, Texas, The Beautiful South, The Canberries, The Scorpions, The Police, ZZ Top.

Most of the time I listen to a combination of gothic rock, death metal, industrial metal, symphonic metal, and about a dozen other similar genres. Most bands start out excellent, each occupying a niche, but then with each new album they just merge into the mainstream, and most then lose that spark which made them special and worthwhile listening to in the first place. Again here's a list of those who I listen to:

After Forever - Netherlands, Angelzoom - Germany, Angtoria - UK/Sweeden, Apocalyptica - Finland, Arjen Lucassen - Netherlands, Ayreon - Netherlands, Blutengel - Germany, Cinderella Effect - Germany, Darkwell - Austria, Delain - Netherlands, DragonForce - England, Edenbridge - Austria, Elis - Liechtenstein, Eluveitie - Switzerland, Epica - Netherlands, Estatic Fear - Austria, Evanescence - USA, Evergrey - Sweeden, Kamelot - USA, Krypteria - Germany/S.Korea, Lacuna Coil - Italy, Leaves' Eyes - Germany/Norway, Luca Turillis Dreamquest - Italy/?, Lunatica - Switzerland, Lyriel - Germany, Macbeth - Italy, Nightwish - Finland/Sweeden, Octavia Sperati - Norway, Poisonblack - Finland, Siouxsie & The Banshees - England, Sins of Thy Beloved - Norway, Sirenia - Norway, Sonata Arctica - Finland, Sonata Nocturna - Spain, Stratovarious - Finland, Stream of Passion - Netherlands/Mexico, Tales of Dark - Serbia, The Crest - Norway, Theatre of Tragedy - Norway, Therion - Sweeden, Tiamat - Sweeden, Tristania - Norway, Within Temptation - Netherlands, Xandria - Germany.

Cinderella Effect - Standing:

Eluveitie - Inis Mona: (Celtic Death Metal - one of my favourite metal genres) {grin}

Octavia Sperati - Hunting Eye:

Tristania - Angina: (Probably a little too 'heavy' to say the least for anyone here, but you never know)

I'm in a weird mood tonight. I have a broad taste in music, mostly 80's. Here's what's on my mind right now, all of which are on my thumb drive to play in the car. Some of you will think this is wierd shit. Anybody recognize any of these?

Relax...

What an incredible voice!

My favorite version of this song, Lisa and Barry just messing around one day!

Note: AFAIK John Waite is not, nor has he ever been, gay. That was just the fashion back then...

Another favorite song, in an all-time favorite commercial:

Group of 3, the most well-known first...

If I were to list all the bands and songs I love I'd still be here tomorrow, as I currently have some 1,200 different artists on my playlist. Anyway, to make things short, most favorite bands (and respective songs) would be
Foo Fighters (Everlong, The Deepest Blues Are Black)
Metallica (Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, One)
Die Ärzte (Zum letzten Mal, Allein, Die Banane).
Aside from that, a sh!tload of old rock bands from the past (AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Queen) and plenty of rock/indie bands from the present (Volbeat, The Gaslight Anthem, Incubus), combined with some country stuff like Johnny Cash, electronic/techno from U96 and Prodigy, and some R&B like Alicia Keys.
