Not to worry, I'll be back in warm, sunny, warm, beautiful, warm, southern California tomorrow.

Did I mention it's warm there?

You're not even a native Bostonian. Go back to that place that no one cares about, wherever it is.

California's overrated. Earthquakes and worse skiing than Colorado.

Remind me again how that song goes again. Is it:

"...where the buffalo roam..."

or

"...where the buffaloes roam..."

???

Anyway. Thought I'd try having my camera ride shotgun:

I know. ;)

I comment on that because Nosedive's stupid college team is called the Buffaloes.

A far better team name than the condoms ;)

Really? I would prefer to have sex with a Trojan than with a Buffalo.

But, you know, whatever makes you happy.

Decided to cast my eyes more heavenward than usual. My first real attempts at imaging celestial objects, aside from wide angle star trails and such:

Pleiades open star cluster:

Jupiter with 3 of its moons visible - Callisto, Ganymede, and Io from top to bottom:

The Orion Nebula:

Pretty amateurish overall, but pretty exciting to be able to do anyway.

More spacey stuff.

Satellite turns on its cloaking device to elude the airplane following it:

Another satellite:

Couple more:

Mercury setting over the San Vicente Light, with a helicopter buzzing the coastline:

Probably the best photo of the Andromeda Galaxy I'm going to get, given location and equipment (and it took some serious screwing around with post-processing just to get it to this stage). Also visible are its satellite galaxies M32 (looks like a fuzzy star to the left and slightly below Andromeda's nucleus) and M110 (looks like a small cloud to the right and slightly below):

A shot from the Top of the Rock that I took last month. I was lucky as I only spent one day in NY and the weather was perfect :)

That's freaking beautiful!

I've been toying with layering multiple exposures for the Andromeda Galaxy shot - I took probably 10 exposures with that in mind, but couldn't quite figure out how to make it work. Well, here's an edit with 3 exposures layered:
