I will bring my camera to work, and go outside and snap a few photos. Better set a reminder in Outlook so I don't forget.

Alaska and western Canada get the best show. {grumpy}

Might try to get some shots at IAH with the eclipse underway... but it's going to be tricky.

Got a bunch of shots of it - I'll upload a few this evening.

I don't have a proper solar filter, so I had to make do with what I have. On my 300mm lens, I stacked 3 ND8 filters. Then, since it was still too bright, I grabbed the ND400 filter that goes on my 70-200, and just held it up with my fingers in front of the lens (since it's a 67mm filter, and my 300 is a 77mm lens).

So, 3x ND8 = 9 stops; ND400 =~ 8.65 stops.

Total light reduction =~ 17.65 stops. And I was still shooting at 1/800, F7.1, ISO200.

Now I see why people use ND100,000 filters to shoot the sun (ND100,000 being about 16.6 stops).

It's utterly amazing how bright that ball in the sky is.
