Maybe the Royal Netherlands Air Force enjoyed those Arizona winters as compared to the homeland.
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Dutch fighter pilots will soon be training high over Tucson and southern Arizona.

The Arizona Air National Guard says the Royal Netherlands Air Force is resuming F-16 Fighting Falcon pilot training at Tucson International Airport after a three-year absence.

The 162nd Fighter Wing of the Arizona Air National Guard will welcome the first Dutch pilots and aircraft Oct. 29.

The Dutch plan to base 14 of their own jets in Tucson to participate in basic F-16 flight training and instructor pilot certification. Flight training is scheduled to be in full swing by January 2011.

A spokesman for the 162nd Fighter Wing Maj. Gabriel Johnson says southern Arizona provides perfect weather for flight training.

We sleep peacefully in our beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on our behalf

While the weather is certainly better, airspace also plays an important role. The Germans have been down in southern NM at Holloman AFB for many years now taking advantage of our relatively uncongested airspace.
Make Orwell fiction again.

Yes, they were in Springfield, as the 162nd FS. They are being replaced there with UAVs.
