While I was checking for updates about the Air Asia flight via @jonostrower on twitter, he mentioned the launch of the Pegasus a few hours ago via a link to FR24. And here is the story.

Yesterday we were the first to show you the USAF's new KC-46 Pegasus tanker demonstrator doing high speed taxi runs at Paine Field in Everett Washington. Now the highly modified Boeing 767 in military uniform has leaped into the air for the first time.

Wow...talk about taking a loooong time to get that program going, with testing still to be performed.

Meanwhile, JASDF has been super happy with theirs for more than half a decade.

Yep. Even though the KC-45A is not exactly the same as Japan's KC-767, Boeing wasn't exactly re-inventing the wheel here. It's shameful that it's taken this long to get the thing in the air. Now, lets sit back and watch the years of delays before it sees service with an operational squadron.

What is the one that the Egyptian AF has? Saw it in Billings once. Something using the 767 as a platform.

Are you sure it was Egyptian? The Italians have KC-767s and at a very quick glance, the insignia kinda sorta almost looks Egyptian-ish.

You are correct, Shy, definitely the Italian platform that I saw. Very cool.

That was back in 2009 at KBIL!

Must be one of the older setups because they also carry underwing pods nowadays.

The shot I posted was most likely taken during initial testing. It was the quickest shot I could find that would hotlink.
