Freckleton Air Disaster? I'd never heard of it...

A memorial service has taken place to mark the 70th anniversary of an aeroplane crash on a Lancashire village which killed 61 people.

Thirty-eight children were among those killed when the US Liberator heavy bomber destroyed houses, a cafe and a church school in Freckleton.

My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

A legend around these parts, the grave is a sobering place. I live 10 miles away from Freckleton and pass through regularly, as will anybody who does any photography at Warton. Many of the BAe Warton and local suppliers' staff live in the area, and they pretty much all know somebody who lost family in the disaster. Nearly 68 years after the last crews left, they still view the USAF almost as family around Freck, Warton, and South Lytham.
A million great ideas...
