Ankara (AFP) - Turkey has decided to place a firm order with US aerospace giant Lockheed Martin for two F-35 stealth fighter jets, a defence source said on Wednesday.

"Two orders will be placed," the source told AFP on condition of anonymity, adding that they were due to be delivered in 2015.

NATO member Turkey plans to buy 100 of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) jets over the next decade for about $16 billion (11 billion euros).

I imagine these two are for testing purposes?

Maybe they are following their own version of US military policy recently- A tiny number of very high-tech warplanes are sufficient to ward off whatever an enemy might throw at us.

Lol, funny point, no sarcasm included.

But two of one type small type is ludicrous and they did announce plans to buy 100.

I suspect there will be a few more F-35s ordered but the rest of the budget will go on unmanned aircraft, as seems to be the way of things globally.
A million great ideas...

I heard that drones are prone to give the controllers much more psychological trouble because they actually see their victims before death, and pilots don't.
Einstein said two things were infinite; the universe, and stupidity. He wasn't sure about the first, but he was certain about the second.

Not sure about 100, but I would imagine they will still order quite a few.

All their provocations in Syria and against Israel point to more sabre rattling.
