German 1-ton bomb dating back to WWII found armed in France. As the weapons degrade, do they become more dangerous or less, or does it depend on the ordinance?

Edit: Although I guess the bomb got there by being buried, not dropped, still appropriate for mil-av?

Very many! Hamburg was one of the most heavily bombed cities in WWII, and we still have bomb disposals here every other week. Some are pretty easy, with only a few streets being cordoned off, but sometimes, entire city districts have to be evacuated.

It mostly depends on the detonator. If the detonator is either fully intact or fully inop, then it is usually rather easy to defuse the bomb. But if it has been rotting away and now is in instable condition, the bomb can detonate any time.

AFAIK, there are still victims of WWII dying every year. I thought that in some estimates, 20% of the ordinance didn't explode.

This stuff is everywhere all over the world. Just a week or so ago only a few miles from my place.
