Reportedly three MiGs, either -21s or -23s, in questionable condition and with unknown armament. Some USAF/RAF pilot should have a fun few minutes getting rid of those.

Islamic State militants in Syria are training Iraqi pilots who joined the group to fly in three captured fighter jets, Reuters reported citing witnesses.

"They have trainers, Iraqi officers who were pilots before for [former Iraqi President] Saddam Hussein," said Rami Abdulrahman, who runs the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. "People saw the flights. They went up many times from the airport."

The group has reportedly been flying the planes over a captured Syrian military airport in the northern Aleppo province, which was among the areas in Syria seized by islamists this year.

The jets, which witnesses said defined as MiG 21 or MiG 23 models, were captured from the Syrian military. It was not clear whether or not they were equipped with weaponry.
A million great ideas...

Target practice. Although the MiG-23 in a straight line has a can of haul ass, it can't turn for shit. As JL pointed out, it should be fun.
And let's get one thing straight. There's a big difference between a pilot and an aviator. One is a technician; the other is an artist in love with flight. — E. B. Jeppesen

Can we change the thread title to "ISIS, Now With Manned Target Drones"

The new, improved QMig-21 and/or QMig-23

I saw the video. They have crates and crates of missiles and cannon rounds. The AA-2s they had out looked like they may be serviceable.

That's more than I can say for the airplanes. I would give this story a lot more credit if the audio track included the sound of one running. There was no sign of support equipment in sight.

But yeah, 3 Mig-21PF (best guess on version) isn't going to do them much good.
