My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

The pictures indicate that the airplane crashed near the intersection of Fonzie Avenue and Cross Street, which Google maps notes as being the literal edge of the development there.

I was surprised that any pilot would eject 'close' to homes, but from the looks of it he tried to eject away from the homes. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Those photos remind me of the time a A-4 Skyhawk took off from NAS Los Alamitos (my back yard as a kid) hit a tree, and ended up in a housing development. Pilot made sure the plane was aimed in the middle of the street, and only one house was singed.

Halls, that base was closed when I lived there, but I can see given the layout where any aircraft that goes down on either end would end up in houses. Nice neighborhood though.

Seeing what some of the fools on SoCal news stations on Facebook are saying in the comments about this crash...I'm very thankful to be out of there. Makes me want to hate humanity... There is only so much a pilot can do with a dead aircraft...especially a Harrier.

My house was right where the taxiway to 22L makes a hard right turn.

By the way, the NAS is closed, but the base still exists as Los Alamitos Army Airfield and home of the Cal NG 40th mechanized infrantry division.
