Authorities say three people are missing. One person has been rescued and is being transported to an area hospital.

Spokeswoman Petty Officer 2nd Class Elizabeth Bordelon told the Associated Press that the helicopter was an MH-65 Dolphin.

She also confirmed the transport of one victim to a hospital but could not provide an update on their condition. She was not immediately sure if the four people on board are Coast Guard service members.

Bordelon said that the helicopter was involved in a training mission out of Mobile's Aviation Training Center when it went down near Point Clear.

Boats and other aircraft from both Alabama and Mississippi are being deployed to help in the search and rescue effort. Bordelon said the Coast Guard has two helicopters and a boat involved in the search.

Thoughts and prayers to those un-accounted for.

The rescue swimmer died shortly after being rescued. The bodies of both pilots have been recovered but the engineer has not yet been found. The weather has been bad for the most part since the crash until today. Hopefully they will be able to find him soon but it seems very unlikely that he made it.
