Identifying Decal on Fi 156 Storch

Your online Air Force Base.

Hi all -

I had a very enjoyable day at the Heritage Flying Collection at KPAE on Saturday (full report to follow!). One little item which really caught my attention was a decal on the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch, as seen in our pictures here: http://imgur.com/a/02sTJ.

Can anyone (perhaps our German members) explain the significance of this emblem? My first guess is that this was a forward air observation aircraft?

Thanks! 8)

Summer Camo...

Bomb dropping Dutch??? It was a FO airplane. Couldn't tell you much about Observation Series airplanes.
And let's get one thing straight. There's a big difference between a pilot and an aviator. One is a technician; the other is an artist in love with flight. — E. B. Jeppesen
