IATA Estimates The Impact Of Coronavirus On Worldwide Aviation
The International Transport Association (IATA) has released updated estimates for the financial impact of the coronavirus. It now foresees potential 2020 revenue losses in numbers above $100billion for the global air transport industry. This is five times as much as in a previous statement released only two weeks ago.

Turkish Airlines Flies Boeing 787 Ghost Flight From Singapore To Istanbul
On March 4th, Turkish Airlines flight TK55 flew from Singapore to Istanbul completely void of passengers. This wasn’t due to an absence of ticket holders. Rather, it was because a passenger on the inbound flight from Istanbul tested positive for COVID19 – or the coronavirus. As a result, the decision was made not to operate the flight as scheduled.

Azul Shareholders Agree To Lease Embraer 195's To Breeze
Brazilian airline Azul Linhas Aéreas has officially received approval from its shareholders to sub-lease 53 Embraer E195s to US start-up carrier Breeze Airways and to Poland’s LOT. The go-ahead was given yesterday during an Extraordinary General Meeting and gained 97% of the votes. In line with the airline’s policies, the controlling shareholder abstained from the vote.

Number of UK airports could now close after collapse of Flybe
Unions and politicians have reacted with fury over the collapse of Flybe just weeks after the company narrowly avoided going under in January.
A drop in demand caused by the coronavirus “made a difficult situation worse” for Flybe, an airline source told the PA news agency, and although crisis talks were held throughout Wednesday to try to secure a rescue package, no deal could be agreed.

Air USA Buys Former RAAF Hornets
The Australian Government will sell up to 46 former Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) McDonnell Douglas F/A-18A/B Hornets to Quincy, Illinois-based Air USA, minister for defence industry Melissa Price announced on March 5. Air USA is a provider of training services to various U.S. government agencies and operates a fleet of Aero L-39 and L-59 Albatros, BAE Systems Hawk, Dassault Alpha Jet, and Mikoyan MiG-29 aircraft.

Israel Approved for KC-46, but USAF Problems Persist
The U.S. State Department notified Congress on March 3 that the Defense Security Cooperation Agency had approved a potential Foreign Military Sale to Israel of the Boeing KC-46A Pegasus tanker. Worth an estimated $2.4 billion, the proposed purchase includes up to eight aircraft, up to 17 Pratt & Whitney PW4062 engines (one spare), and 18 Raytheon MAGR 2K-GPS SAASM (selective availability anti-spoofing module) jam-resistant navigation systems, as well as other communications systems and support activities.
