Ousted Boeing CEO may walk away with $39M. The families of crash victims? $144K
Boeing's recently ousted CEO could walk away with a multi-million dollar golden parachute that is about 270 times what the company is paying out to family members who lost a loved one in the Max 737 crashes.
CEO Dennis Muilenburg was fired on Monday but may still walk away with $39 million in cash and stock options as part of his severance package, a source told ABC News. Some reports put that figure even higher.

C919 test fleet complete with flight of sixth prototype
The sixth and final Comac C919 prototype has conducted its maiden sortie from Shanghai’s Pudong International airport.
The 2h 5min sortie commenced 10:15am on 27 December during which 30 tests were conducted, according to the official China Daily quoting Comac.

Kazakhstan plane crash: Bek Air plane comes down near Almaty airport
A passenger jet has crashed in Kazakhstan, killing at least 12 people but leaving dozens of survivors.
The Bek Air plane was flying from Almaty - Kazakhstan's largest city - to the capital Nur-Sultan when it smashed into a building just after take-off.

Qatar Airways’ Unusual 787-9 Deliveries
Qatar Airways has 30 Boeing 787-9 aircraft on order, and the airline has just taken delivery of several of these… surprisingly.
The airline has an incredibly diverse wide body fleet, as Qatar Airways already has 777-200s, 777-300s, A330-200s, A330-300s, A350-900s, A350-1000s, A380s, and 787-8s. It’s almost as if Akbar Al Baker is a Pokemon master, and wants to catch ’em all.

Italy’s Ernest Airlines ordered to suspend operations
Italian authorities are to suspend the operating licence of carrier Ernest Airlines from mid-January, although it has not detailed the reasons for the decision.
Civil aviation regulator ENAC says that the suspension will take effect from 13 January 2020.
But it states that there are “no imminent critical issues” which would jeopardise operational safety.

Russian investigators to analyse Bek Air Fokker’s flight recorders
Russian investigators are to analyse the flight recorders from the Bek Air Fokker 100 which crashed during take-off from Almaty on 27 December.
The recorders have been retrieved from the wreckage, says Kazakhstan’s ministry of industry, and they will be transferred to the Russian Interstate Aviation Committee for analysis in Moscow.

Tarom expects to take new ATRs next year
Tarom is expecting to start taking delivery of new ATR 72-600s in February 2020, after the Romanian flag-carrier formally signed for the acquisition of nine of the turboprop type.
The airline had disclosed an initial lease agreement for the aircraft earlier this year and originally indicated it would receive them from October.

Aegean declares preliminary interest in Croatia Airlines
Greek carrier Aegean is submitting an indicative offer as part of the privatisation plan for fellow Star Alliance operator Croatia Airlines.
The Croatian government stated earlier this year, during events to mark the flag-carrier’s 30th anniversary, that it was launching a strategic partnership process to maintain the airline’s competitiveness.

Bek Air Fokker crash inquiry set to analyse freezing Almaty conditions
Investigators probing the fatal Bek Air Fokker 100 accident at Almaty will be seeking to establish whether freezing conditions contributed to the aircraft’s failure to climb away during take-off.
Mist was present at the time, according to Almaty airport meteorological data, with the air temperature of minus 12C close to the dew point of minus 13C.

Thailand set to see two new LCCs in 2020
Two Thai low-cost carriers, Thai Eastar Jet and Thai Summer Airways, are likely to take off in 2020.
Both have received their air operating licenses (AOL) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) and will need to begin commercial operations within a year.

Bek Air grounded after fatal Fokker 100 accident at Almaty
Kazakhstan’s government has suspended flight authorisation for local operator Bek Air in the aftermath of the fatal Fokker 100 accident at Almaty.
The aircraft had been operating flight Z92100 to the capital, Nur-Sultan, when it lost height after take-off and crashed into a concrete wall, says the Kazakh ministry of industry.
