AirlinesAirberlin to cut all Spanish domestic routes by summer 2016Airberlin, which is undergoing an extensive restructuring process, will cut all domestic routes from its Palma de Mallorca hub as well as from Ibiza to the Spanish mainland and to Portugal, a spokesperson confirmed. The company said competition on those routes has become strong and by summer 2016 flights will cease from Palma de Mallorca to Alicante, Bilbao, Ibiza, Jerez, Malaga, Seville and Valencia, as well as to Faro (Portugal). All Spanish domestic flights will be cut during the current winter schedule.

LinkAir Samara pilots blamed for landing accident Moscow-based Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) has blamed Air Samara pilots for the hard landing accident of a Beechcraft B300 on Nov. 25, 2014. The aircraft, which belongs to State Transport Leasing Co., made a hard landing without gear at Samara Kurumoch International Airport. There were no passengers on board during the technical flight and the pilots were not injured.

Speaking to Flightglobal, chief operating officer Rupert Hogg details that Cathay will add 22 Airbus A350-900s to its fleet over the next two years, followed by 26 A350-1000s from 2018 through to 2020. From 2021, it will also take the first of 21 Boeing 777-9Xs on order.

LinkWizz Air, Lufthansa Technik renew MRO contracts Eastern European low-cost carrier Wizz Air has renewed two eight-year MRO contracts with Lufthansa Technik Maintenance International (LTMI) and Lufthansa Technik Budapest (LTB) for line maintenance services on its fleets based in Romania, Slovakia and Hungary. Under the agreements, LTMI and LTB will provide a single point of contact for all line maintenance issues, preventive maintenance and performance monitoring of the fleet.
