Airbus UK president warns of 'huge' risk of EU exit
Airbus Group’s UK president has warned that a UK exit from the European Union would pose “huge” economic risks and stressed that thorough consideration of the long-term impact is essential. Paul Kahn urged companies to declare their support for the UK’s remaining within the EU, telling delegates at a Welsh-oriented event in London on 20 May that the debate about its membership had been “dominated by negative and often emotional rhetoric”.

Delta Files for New Non-Stop Service between MCO and GRU
Delta Air Lines has filed for regulatory approval to offer new non-stop flights between Orlando, Florida, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, beginning Dec. 19, 2015. Delta expects to serve the two cities with four (4) weekly flights. The airline's strategic alliance with GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes extends the reach of this service to 20 interior Brazil destinations and provides seamless connections at Guarulhos International Airport.

JetBlue adding daily Daytona Beach - New York City flight
JetBlue will begin offering daily round-trip flights from Daytona Beach, Fla., to New York's John F. Kennedy Airport at the beginning of next year, according to airport officials. The airline has assigned a 150-seat Airbus A320 to the route.

SIA reveals premium economy seats
Singapore Airlines has unveiled its new premium economy class seat. The new seats, designed by JPA Design, will be put into commercial service on 9 August, initially on the Singapore-Sydney route. Other destinations including Beijing, Delhi, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, London and New York will progressively feature the class as it is rolled out across its 19 Boeing 777-300ERs, 19 Airbus A380s and 20 of the 70 A350-900s it has on order. The A380s will feature 36 premium economy seats, the 777-300ERs 28, and 24 on the A350s in a 2-4-2 layout.

Southwest announces plans to expand Orlando maintenance hangar

Orlando International Airport to build new south terminal
Orlando International Airport will spend about $1.8 billion on the new terminal. Designs will contain 16 to 24 gates, and construction is expected to be finished by 2019.

Pa. lawmaker wants to put slot machines in international airport terminals
A Pennsylvania lawmaker says he'll introduce a measure to put slot machines in the international terminals of the state's airports. State Rep. Nick Kotik says the proposal is aimed at increasing revenue and passenger traffic, especially at Pittsburgh International Airport.

Southwest Florida International marks continued passenger traffic growth
Southwest Florida International Airport has had 17 consecutive months of year-over-year growth, according to the Lee County Port Authority. Tourist traffic is a large part of the increase, according to executive director Bob Ball.

RNZAF Huey embarks on final domestic tour
The Royal New Zealand Air Force’s Bell Helicopter UH-1 Huey helicopter has conducted a final tour of the country ahead of its planned retirement in July after 49 years in service. Serving with No 3 Sqn, the once 14-strong fleet of Hueys has been reduced to six as it nears retirement on 1 July, and several of the remaining fleet embarked on the final farewell tour in early May.

USMC F-35B lands on USS Wasp for operational testing
Six US Marine Corps Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II aircraft landed on board the USS Wasp amphibious assault ship on 18 May, where they will begin the first phase of shipboard operational testing for the force’s Joint Strike Fighters. Two weeks of testing – dubbed OT-1 – will now be conducted in the lead up to achieving initial operational capability, acting as the “connecting block” between the testing team, engineers and fleet operations. The equipment, personnel and support used throughout will be similar to those that will be employed in routine operations.

US Air Force X-37B returns to orbit on Atlas V
The US Air Force has announced the successful launch of its Boeing X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle aboard an Atlas V rocket today from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. “This was the fourth time that the X-37B has flown on an Atlas V launch vehicle,” the air force explains in a May 20 press statement. The launch capsule also carried 10 CubeSat satellites sponsored by NASA and the National Reconnaissance Office.
