Why 120 Chinese Passengers Were Refused Boarding On A United Flight
Some 120 China-bound passengers got left behind at Newark on the weekend. A crewing issue delayed the plane, meaning the affected passengers would miss their connections out of Narita into China. There was uncertainty over whether Japan would allow the Chinese passengers to transit overnight, so United Airlines decided not to uplift the passengers.

Stepping up in the development of its newest plane, Airbus has reversed its resolution to offer an active dry-air generation system for moisture control as an option for the longest range airliner A321XLR. Anti-fuselage-condensation products supplier CTT Systems puts its development of an active moisture control system for the Airbus A320 Family on hold.

Boeing Plans for More Voluntary Layoffs
Boeing plans to institute a second round of voluntary layoffs in the company’s commercial airplanes division, services unit, and corporate operations, according to a memo reportedly sent to employees late Monday from CEO David Calhoun. The action will extend job cuts at the company beyond the 10 percent target cited by Calhoun in April. As of July, the company identified 19,000 positions as redundant.

Qatar Airways has already paid out over $1.2 billion in refunds for passengers since March 2020, while 4% of compensation claims remain to be processed. However, the record payouts could have been even higher and reached almost $2 billion.

American Airlines to double cargo-only flights in September
American Airlines plans to operate over 1,000 cargo-only flights in September 2020, essentially doubling its air freight services compared to August.
In September, the airline plans to accompany its 1,200 passenger flights and their belly capacity with more than 1,000 cargo-only flights, offering a total of 2,200 monthly flights for air shipments, the carrier announced on August 17, 2020.

easyJet to close three British bases

Rochester Airport In Upstate New York To Be Renamed
Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) is set to be renamed after Frederick Douglass, a famed American abolitionist, author, and leader in the antislavery movement. Mr. Douglass does have connections to Rochester, New York, and, after a summer of continued reckoning with race relations in the United States, it is fitting for him to receive an honor of the sort. The Monroe County legislature approved the motion to rename the airport after Frederick Douglass on August 11th.

Oregon Air National Guard to get new F-15EX jets first
The Oregon Air National Guard was chosen to be first to receive the Boeing F-15EX in 2022. New fighters will replace F-15C/D jets that are more than 40 years old and nearing the end of their service life.
According to the United States Air Force (USAF) announcement, the Oregon Air National Guard’s 173rd Fighter Wing, located at Kinsley Field, will become the first operational F-15EX squadron in the next three years.

Secretive Boeing Loyal Wingman prepares for taxi trials
The first prototype of the stealth unmanned aerial vehicle known as the Loyal Wingman, developed by Boeing Defence Australia, was spotted on a runway for the first time.
The Airpower Teaming System (ATS) was seen preparing for taxi trials at an undisclosed location, which could be the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Amberley.
