COVID-19 statement published by ICAO and WHO
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) has published a joint statement – signed by ICAO Secretary General, Dr. Fang Liu, and Director General of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus – regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and outlining updated advice regarding the virus and civil aviation.

American Airlines Announces Further Coronavirus Route Cuts
On Tuesday morning, American Airlines announced that it would further reduce its schedule due to the drop in demand following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. The airline will reduce its international capacity over the summer peak by 10%, including a 55% reduction in transpacific capacity.

European low-cost giant Ryanair has canceled flights to Italy until the 8th of April. The decision was made as other airlines such as British Airways and Wizz Air announced similar measures. Yesterday Italy was out on lockdown to try and halt the spread of the disease.

Citilink Will Connect Indonesia With Frankfurt From June 2020
Indonesian low-cost carrier Citilink will launch its first European service to Frankfurt, Germany, commencing June 2nd, 2020.

However, their 787 Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine issues postponed things a little bit. Now, with the coronavirus outbreak driving down global demand for air travel, it appears that the airline is storing these aircraft. Could this also mean an early retirement?

European Commission plans moratorium on 'use it or lose it' slot rule
European regulators are set to release airlines from slot-use obligations to ease pressure on carriers as they cut capacity to cope with coronavirus outbreak effects.
The European Commission says it will put forward “targeted legislation” which will “temporarily alleviate” airlines from the need to follow slot usage rules.

Authorities Urged To Act On Ahmedabad Airport Pigeon Problem
Following a series of bird-related incidents at Ahemdabad’s airport, passengers and airlines are urging the authorities to act. The recent scrutiny comes after an incident onboard a GoAir flight, which saw a pigeon enter the cabin. ACI Europe today admitted that the continent's airports are now facing a full blown crisis as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic.
It says that while the impact of the coronavirus was initially marginal and limited to those airports with air services to affected countries in Asia, its extension into Europe is resulting in airports across the continent now facing a full blown crisis.
