2019 Airbus Deliveries Up 8% From Previous Year
According to sources cited by Reuters, Airbus delivered 8% more aircraft in 2019. This is up from 800 aircraft delivered in 2018. The figures are yet to be confirmed by the European aircraft manufacturer.

Air Kiribati receives its first Embraer E190-E2 jet (PHOTOS)
Air Kiribati, the flag carrier of the Republic of Kiribati, received on December 30, 2019 its first Embraer E190-E2 jet.
Embraer announced the contract with the Government of Kiribati, in partnership with its national airline, Air Kiribati, in December 2018. The airline ordered two E190-E2s and has purchase rights for two more.

Etihad, IndiGo show interest in Air India as collapse looms
Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l) and IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi Int'l) have shown preliminary interest in acquiring Air India (AI, Mumbai Int'l), The Economic Times has reported citing unnamed sources.
The two potential buyers met with the representatives of the government to discuss terms. The government of India, which currently wholly owns the flag carrier, is seeking to sell a 100% stake in the first half of 2020 but has yet to formalise the terms of the tender. The formal call for Expressions Of Interest (EOI) is expected in January.

Delta completes acquisition of a 20% stake in LATAM
Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) has announced in a SEC filing that its offer to purchase shares representing a 20% stake in LATAM Airlines Group was oversubscribed by the existing shareholders, allowing the American airline to complete the acquisition.

Delta Air Lines is the most on-time airline in North America
New data shows Delta Air Lines is the most on-time airline in all of North America. Cirium just released its on-time performance numbers for 2019. Delta was also the number No. 3 worldwide according to the travel and data analytics company, which released its findings on Thursday. As we previously reported, Aeroflot was the most punctual in the world.

British Airways has finished its 100th year centenary by outlining priorities for the next 12 months, which will include updates to Heathrow Airport lounges.

American Airlines Pilots Are Unhappy With Their Contracts
American Airlines pilots are unhappy with their contracts and their union is speaking up about it. It comes at a critical time for American Airlines as the current contracts setting out employment and salary conditions for many of its employees are up for renewal. Various unions representing around 85,000 employees are currently in Section 6 negotiations with American Airlines.

New airport in Tanzania is to be funded by the African Development Bank
The African Development Bank‘s Board of Directors has approved a $272.12 million loan to Tanzania which will be used in the construction of a new international airport in the capital city of Dodoma; Msalato International Airport.
The new site will be built within the district of Msalato, 12km from the capital.

Installation of solar power plant underway at Salvador Bahia Airport
As a result of an approximately R$16 million investment, Salvador Bahia Airport has begun the installation of a new solar power plant at the threshold of the airport runway.
The installation brings the airport in line with VINCI Airports’ environmental commitments and will result in significant savings in electricity consumption.
