Dubai Airshow 2019: GECAS inks firm order for Airbus A330neos, A321XLRs
GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) has signed a firm order for 12 new generation Airbus A330neos and 20 long-range single-aisle A321XLRs, Airbus said Nov. 19 at the Dubai Airshow. 
The manufacturer said the agreement for the A321XLR includes an order for 13 new planes and the upsizing of seven A321s in its existing backlog.

Dubai Airshow 2019: Boeing wins 50 MAX, three 787 commitments
Boeing’s MAX sales resurgence continued on the third day of the Dubai Airshow as the company announced a commitment from Air Astana for 30 MAXs and finalized a firm order behind the scenes for 20 more, ATW confirmed. The US manufacturer also announced its first new widebody business, from Ghana’s new national carrier. The Air Astana letter of intent, announced Nov. 19, is for 30 MAX 8s, which will be flown by the Kazak flag carrier’s FlyArystan low-cost subsidiary ...

Dubai Airshow 2019: De Havilland commits to 14 more Dash 8-400s
De Havilland Aircraft of Canada, continuing its strong showing at the Dubai Airshow, unveiled commitments for 14 more Dash 8-400s on Nov. 19, pushing its show total to 37 and filling more gaps in its near-term production skyline.
The deals include letters of intent from Ghana’s government for “up to” six aircraft, and Aeroflot subsidiary Aurora for five. Lessor ACIA Aero Capital added a conditional purchase agreement for three.

ANA, JAL identify routes served by new Haneda slots
Japan’s major airlines have revealed how they will use their new slots at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, with a mix of new destinations, additional frequencies, and flights switched from Tokyo Narita Airport.
Japanese regulators have created 50 additional daytime international slots at Haneda because of airspace changes.

Thai Airways widens 3Q net loss on stiff competition
Thai Airways (THAI) reported a 2019 third-quarter net loss of THB4.7 billion ($152.7 million), widened from a THB3.7 billion loss in the year-ago period.
Third-quarter operating revenue also declined to THB46 billion, down 4% from THB48 billion.

Dubai Airshow 2019: Emirates eyes big network changes from 2023
Emirates Airline may end up buying more than the 150 Boeing 777Xs it has on firm order and is considering whether it could add the Airbus A350-1000 to its fleet as it is looking at future options to replace the Airbus A380 fleet. “We ordered the 777X originally to replace the 777-300ER; the A380 was not under the Damocles sword,” Emirates Airline president Tim Clark said on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow Nov. 19.

Dubai Airshow 2019: Air Senegal to grow regional, European network with A220s
Air Senegal has placed a preliminary order for eight Airbus A220-300s to expand its African and European network.
The airline signed the MOU with Airbus Nov. 19 at the Dubai Airshow. Deliveries of the aircraft will start in 2021 with two units arriving per year.

Jin Air’s 737NG with cracks repaired and returned to service
The first of Jin Air’s three Boeing 737NGs found with “pickle fork” cracks returned to service this week.
The Korean Air-affiliated carrier says that repair and replacement work, conducted jointly with Boeing, was completed on Monday and the aircraft was returned to service on Tuesday.

Silverstone freed from Dash 8 operating ban
Kenyan authorities have lifted the restrictions imposed on Silverstone Air Services' Bombardier Dash 8 fleet, a week after banning the airline from flying the type.
Silverstone had been subjected to the seven-day prohibition after a compliance audit by the Kenyan civil aviation authority.

BA identifies initial route for 787-10
British Airways is to use its first Boeing 787-10 on services to the US city of Atlanta, following delivery of the twinjet in January.
The Oneworld carrier says the 787-10 will be configured in four classes, with eight first-class seats and a 48-seat business cabin.

South African restores more flights despite continued strike
South African Airways is resuming flights to destinations within the region, while the carrier's domestic services are still affected by industrial action.
The airline says that it is "on the road to operational recovery" as a "growing number of our employees… are coming back to work".

Seoul Incheon airport begins multi-stage $4.1B expansion project
South Korea’s primary air hub Seoul Incheon International Airport has begun a multi-stage expansion project aimed at enabling the facility to handle 106 million passengers by 2024.
The South Korean government’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said the airport operator, Incheon International Airport Corp.

Work starts on new maintenance hangar at Norwich airport
A ground breaking ceremony has been held at Norwich Airport to officially mark the start of construction on the UK gateway's new maintenance hangar and workshop.
The new 54,000sqft hangar and 15,500sqft workshop will be capable of simultaneously accommmodating two Boeing 737 aircraft, and ensure the expansion of KLM UK engineering group at the Norfolk airport.

Moscow Sherementyevo to open new-look terminal C in january
Moscow Sheremetyevo has received the green-light from Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency to open its renovated Terminal C in January, 2020.
According to the Moscow gateway, the first phase of its "new and improved" Terminal C ensures that it is equipped to handle international flights.

Rostec is forging ahead with efforts to sell advanced combat aircraft on the international market, although US sanctions present a challenge.
The Russian defence conglomerate has offered both the Sukhoi Su-35 and Su-57 to Turkey, according to chief executive Sergey Chemezov.

India nearing C295 contract go-ahead, Airbus believes
India’s long-running process to replace its Hindustan Aeronautics-built HS 748 – or “Avro” – fleet of utility transports could be nearing an end, with Airbus Defence & Space confident of concluding an order for its C295.
“We hope to progress soon with India,” says Ioannis Papachristofilou, the company’s head of marketing, who notes that Airbus also has “a lot of open campaigns” for the twin-turboprop type.
