Air Canada adds new international and seasonal routes
Air Canada is adding nine new international routes this summer from Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal in addition to new seasonal service from Vancouver to Nagoya, Japan and Frankfurt, Germany. The airline also will add daily, year-round service to Taipei, along with other new routes, airline officials said.

Southwest Airlines to begin service at Cincinnati airport
Southwest Airlines is set to begin service June 4 at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The move will make it more convenient for travelers who usually drive to other nearby airports for lower fares, said Adam Kressler, the airport's director of air service development.

Joint business agreement approved by Colombia for American Airlines
Colombia's civil aviation agency (Aerocivil) has unconditionally approved a Joint Business Agreement (JBA) between American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) and LATAM Airlines Colombia (4C, Bogotá), reports Diario Financiero. The approval comes just a few weeks after Aerocivil approved a joint venture between LATAM Airlines Colombia and IAG International Airlines Group.

FLL shows off new Southwest international concourse
Florida's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport gave a sneak peek of its new, five-gate Southwest Airlines international concourse. The concourse features floor-to-ceiling windows, teal terrazzo flooring and public art installations. Southwest invested $200 million in the project, which is part of the greater $330 million renovation of the entire Terminal 1.

United's planned 18-hour route could be longest nonstop flight
This fall United Airlines plans to launch an 18-hour nonstop flight from Los Angeles to Singapore. If approved by regulators, it will become the longest nonstop flight ever flown by a US airline.

American Airlines offers new perks to ConciergeKey members
American Airlines is increasing its perks for ConciergeKey lounge members, giving them access to AA Flagship Lounges within North America. Right now, only one lounge, at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, qualifies, but the airline said lounges in Los Angeles, Chicago and London will be available within the next 18 months

AirBaltic to display latest CS300 at Paris Air Show
AirBaltic will exhibit its fourth Bombardier CS300, which was delivered June 1, at the Paris Air Show. The Latvian carrier has 20 CS300 jets on firm order. By the end of this year, airBaltic, which became the launch customer for the larger CSeries variant in late 2016, plans to have eight CS300s in its fleet. It expects to have all 20 by the end of 2019.

AirBridgeCargo boosts volume 17% in 1Q
Russia’s AirBridgeCargo (ABC) carried 158,000 tonnes in 1Q 2017, up 17% year-over-year, as a result of market growth and special products. Load factor increased to 70% during the first months of the year, the carrier said in a statement June 1.

AviaAM Leasing reports 77% net profit growth in 2016
AviaAM Leasing—a Warsaw Stock Exchange-listed aircraft leasing company—has reported rapid growth in 2016 with a significant increase in business volumes. Net profit for the year was €16.1 million ($17 million), up 77% compared to €9.1 million for 2015.

American inks deal for $1.6bn investment at LAX
American Airlines and the operator of Los Angeles International airport have agreed to a $1.6 billion investment to improve the carrier's facilities. The scope includes a new unified check-in area for terminals 4 and 5, a connection to the airport's planned automated people mover with a new central security checkpoint on the same level, and landside and airside connections between the terminals, American and LAX operator Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) say in a joint statement.

First Norwegian 737 Max delivery delayed to end-June
Norwegian expects to take its first Boeing 737 Max 8 at the end of June, the second delivery delay since the airframer disclosed a possible manufacturing flaw in the type's engines.

Dr Peters considering A380 teardown: sources
Dr Peters Group is looking at all options for its returning Airbus A380s, including parting-out. Part-out would not be considered for all the returning A380s, informed sources say. Other options in the frame include chartering of the aircraft, or remarketing to another lessee.

ICAO yet to decide when Thai safety red flag will be lifted
ICAO has not set a firm date for removing Thailand's red flag status, but says the country's procedures for awarding air operator's certificates have improved. Working with ICAO and expert consultants, Thailand has now enhanced its AOC procedures," says Arun Mishra, ICAO's Bangkok-based regional director. "Its AOCs are currently being re-certified progressively, in three phases, and several are already in advance stages of a re-certification process which is expected to be completed soon."
