The Abu Dhabi-based carrier currently has 10 787-9s on strength, with a further nine scheduled to arrive this year. Etihad will eventually have a fleet of 71 787s, comprising 41 787-9s and 30 of the larger 787-10 models, as the wide-bodied twinjet becomes the airline’s flagship long-haul aircraft.

Updating the market Feb. 2, Icelandair described 2016 as a good year that will “be close to the upper limit” of its guidance, but added there is increased uncertainty in the short term.
LinkSkyWest Swings To Full Year LossSkyWest announced its fourth quarter and full year results on Thursday showing a loss for both periods. The parent of SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet reported a USD$270.2 million net loss for the fourth quarter to end December 2016, from a $40.4 million profit in the previous year period. The loss was due to a one-off $465.6 million aircraft asset impairment charge during the quarter.
LinkUTair’s domestic traffic grew 25.5% in 2016UTair Aviation carried 5.6 million domestic passengers in 2016, up 25.5% year-over-year (YOY), according to the Russian carrier. Overall, the airline carried a total of 6.6 million passengers, up 20.1% YOY. UTair cited network development and frequencies increase, as well as a 2-point load factor rise to 71.9%, for the results.

LinkWizz Air considers UK AOCCentral and Eastern European low-cost carrier (LCC) Wizz Air is considering whether it should set up a UK air operator’s certificate (AOC) in the wake of the UK’s decision to leave the European Union (EU) (Brexit). “We are looking at a number of scenarios internally, including setting up a UK AOC if we have to,” Wizz Air CEO Jozsef Varadi said, speaking on Wizz Air’s Feb. 1 earnings call.
