Aerolíneas Argentinas increases frequencies to Europe
Buenos Aires-based Aerolíneas Argentinas has announced several route improvements. Starting from June, Buenos Aires Ezeiza-Barcelona (Spain) services will increase from 4X-to 5X-weekly, and Ezeiza-Rome Fiumicino service will increase from 3X- to 4X-weekly flights. The carrier continues to operate daily Airbus A330-200 flights from Ezeiza to Madrid.

Cebu A320 inspection showed evidence of tree strike
Investigators are looking into an incident in which a Cebu Pacific Airbus A320 apparently struck trees while landing at Sibulan airport in the Philippines. The four-year old aircraft (RP-C3237) was being visually inspected by the crew at the airport, situated in Dumaguete, when damage to its landing-gear was discovered.

Delta flight makes emergency landing at Nashville International Airport
A Delta flight made an emergency landing at Nashville International Airport on Sunday after the flight hit turbulence, CBS affiliate WTVF reported. Delta Flight 762 was travelling from from Atlanta to Chicago when it hit turbulence above Cleveland, Tennessee. Engine lights went on at 28,000 feet on the Boeing 717, WTVF reported.
In statement, Delta said 109 customers were on board. Photographs showed how the entire cowling came off engine number one on the right side.

Investec, Emirates Agree USD$1 Bln A380 Lease Deal
Investec Bank, a lender in the aviation market, has closed a USD$1 billion operating lease transaction with Emirates, it said on Monday. The deal will pay for the delivery and sale and leaseback of four A380s, Investec said in a statement.

Hainan Airlines’ 1Q net profit up 56%
China’s Hainan Airlines reported a first-quarter net profit of CNY1.44 billion ($216 million), up 56% over net income of CNY921.2 million in the year-ago quarter. First-quarter operating revenue rose 10.5% to CNY10.08 billion while expenses grew 4% to CNY8.34 billion. The Haikou-based carrier credited robust market demand growth and lower fuel prices as main reasons for the profit increase. It did not release 1Q traffic figures.

IAG to equip up to 137 aircraft with Gogo connectivity
International Airlines Group (IAG) has selected Gogo’s 2Ku broadband connectivity for four Aer Lingus Boeing 757s, 118 British Airways (BA) aircraft and up to 15 Iberia long-haul aircraft. “This state of the art technology will provide greater bandwidth, faster speed and broader coverage to our airlines’ customers. Global connectivity is something they demand and we are providing high-quality connections with innovative technology solutions to improve the travel experience,” IAG CEO Willie Walsh said.

Icelandair to take two more 767s
Icelandair has signed a purchase agreement for two more Boeing 767-300s, which will undergo a complete refurbishment before entering service. The Reykjavík-based carrier, which was historically an all-Boeing 757 operator, branched out into 767 operations last summer and has just put two 767-300s into service.

Marty St. George, executive vice president of commercial and planning at JetBlue Airways, discusses the success of its Mint premium service. "When we announced the New York to Los Angeles and San Francisco [Mint] route, we blew the doors off the forecasts we did," he said.

Korea investigates KAL A330 runway incursion
South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) is investigating an incident in which a Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER was forced to abort its takeoff roll owing to a reported runway incursion. Air traffic controllers at Seoul Incheon Interational airport called on the crew of the 777 to abort the takeoff, says SIA in an email. The aircraft (9V-SWP) was operating flight SQ16 to San Francisco when the incident happened.

United debuts nonstop route from SFO to Xian, China
United Airlines launched seasonal service from San Francisco to Xian, China, over the weekend. United will use Boeing 787-8s for the nonstop route through Oct. 27.

Cork Airport issues rallying call to the public to support new US East Coast services
The Irish gateway says that it feels that it is "within touching distance of securing its first transatlantic flights to the East Coast of America", and believes that strong public support for the service now can make it happen. "Now is the time for the public to make a difference by registering their support for a US licence for the new routes," it states.

F-35 locked and loaded with improved Block 3i software
The F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) has stabilised a glitch-prone combination of software and hardware called Block 3i, potentially clearing the way for the US Air Force’s first Lightning II combat squadron to declare initial operational capability (IOC) between August and December.
F-35 manufacturer Lockheed Martin has been preparing the software load in parallel with the Block 2B configuration that the Marine Corps' first operational F-35B group declared war-ready status with last July.
