Emirates eyes 11-across seating on A380
When I visited the Airbus factory in Toulouse over ten years ago, executives claimed that A380 operators would never go 11-across in the economy cabin.
At the time that statement seemed plausible. It was before the first superjumbo had even been built and, besides, economy cabins were still relatively spacious.
But nothing is set in stone in the airline business. Now it appears that the Emirates, the airline which introduced passengers to the unpopular 10-across layout on the B777, is actively investigating installing 11-across seating on its A380 fleet.

EU launches probe into LOT state aid
The European Commission has launched an in-depth investigation into whether Poland broke competition rules when it gave about EUR€200 million (USD$270 million) in state aid to its airline LOT.
If the investigation concludes that the rules were broken, the airline could be forced to hand back at least some of the money, worsening its already precarious financial position or even forcing it to declare bankruptcy.

Aviation Quote

My habit of attacking Huns dangling from their parachutes led to many arguments in the mess. Some officers, of the Eton and Sandhurst type, thought it was 'unsportsmanlike' to do it. Never having been to a public school, I was unhampered by such considerations of form. I just pointed out that there was a bloody war on, and that I intended to avenge my pals.

— Captain James Ira Thomas 'Taffy' Jones, RFC, 37 victories in 3 months WW1

Bill, Hillary and Al

Bill, Hillary, and Al were in an airplane that crashed. They're up in heaven, and God's sitting on the great white throne. God addresses Al first. “Al, what do you believe in?”

Al replies, “Well, I believe that the combustion engine is evil and that we need to save the world from CFCs and that if any more freon is used, the whole earth will become a greenhouse and we'll all die.”

God thinks for a second and says, “Okay, I can live with that. Come and sit at my left.” God then addresses Bill, “Bill, what do you believe in?”
Bill replies, “Well, I believe in power to the people. I think people should be able to make their own choices about things and that no one should ever be able to tell someone else what to do. I also believe in feeling people's pain.”

God thinks for a second and says, “Okay, that sounds good. Come and sit at my right.” God then address Hillary, “Hillary, what do you believe in?”

“I believe you're in my chair.”
