Boeing Says 787 Fix Quick Once Approved
Boeing commercial aircraft chief executive Ray Conner said the company is very confident about its proposed fix for batteries that melted down on two 787 Dreamliners in January, and the process of getting the fix installed and the plane flying again can move quickly once the solution is approved by regulators.

At Least Five Dead In Congo Plane Crash
At least five people were killed on Monday when a twin-propeller plane crashed as it tried to land in bad weather in the eastern Congolese town of Goma, the airline said. CAA, the airline operating the Fokker 50 plane, said five crew members were killed while another was still missing after the crash.

Kingfisher Loses Flying Rights and Airport Slots
The withdrawal of Kingfisher Airlines’ domestic airport slots and international flying rights by India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation on February 25 could make a phased restart of the carrier even more challenging. Meanwhile, authorities have de-registered 13 of the 37 aircraft parked in India, but airports haven’t allowed lessors to claim their assets until Kingfisher pays pending dues totaling $72 million.

EADS Results Rise, But Concerns Linger Over A350XWB
The task of keeping development of the new Airbus A350XWB airliner on track for service entry in the second half of 2014 “remains challenging,” the European airframer’s parent company EADS acknowledged at a press conference today. According to EADS chief financial officer Harald Wilhelm, “There is no room left in the schedule” to achieve A350 certification according to the revised timetable, but the company remains confident of achieving a first flight “this summer.”

Iberia strikes threaten to spill over to BA
Iberia said it has found alternative flights for about 38,000 of the 40,000 passengers booked on flights cancelled by the second in a series of three week-long strikes by the airline’s ground staff and cabin crews that began Monday and will last all week.

Qatar Airways delays Chengdu launch owing to 787 grounding
Qatar Airways has reported further effects from the grounding of its Boeing 787-8s, announcing frequency reductions on one new route and a launch postponement on another. The 787 has been grounded worldwide since Jan. 16.

NetJets Europe launches day-return jet card
NetJets Europe has launched a block charter jet card aimed at prospective customers wishing to carry out return flights of Cessna Citation Bravo light cabin business aircraft within the same calendar day. Starting at €116,000 ($150,000) for 25h of flight time over a 24-month period, the card will enable customers to fly a same-day return journey - consisting of two or more flight legs - starting and ending in the same city within NetJets' "primary operational area".
