Landmark Turkish Flight Lands In Tripoli A Turkish Airlines passenger plane landed at Tripoli's Mitiga airport from Istanbul on Saturday in the first international commercial flight to Libya since the ousting of Muammar Gaddafi in August. Flags representing Turkey and Libya's new leadership flew outside the airport as the plane landed while inside the building, passengers waited patiently at the check-in desk to board the return flight. Equatorial Congo Airlines (ECAir), a new national carrier of the Republic of Congo, has begun with an inaugural Brazzaville-Point Noire flight.
Chile’s LAN Airlines said Wednesday the company is “confident” it will complete the merger process with TAM during the first quarter of 2012. Chile's antitrust tribunal (TDLC) last week gave conditional approval for the merger.
Dubai-based Emirates Airline (EK) will add daily flights into the US to Dallas/Ft. Worth and Seattle. The new service, to begin from Feb. 2 and March 1, 2012, respectively, will be with Boeing 777-300ERs.
Philippine Airlines (PAL) told AFP it would temporarily slash flight frequencies over the next two months as part of a cost-saving program that would also eliminate 2,600 jobs.

Etihad Airways has announced a codeshare agreement with Vietnam Airlines (VN), effective Oct. 30. The agreement will allow Etihad’s passengers to connect through Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi on VN’s daily services. VN passengers will be able to connect through Bangkok to Etihad’s base in Abu Dhabi. Etihad operates a double-daily service to Bangkok.
