Shooting at DC Holocaust Museum

An 89-year-old man with an anti-government and white supremacist history was shot in the head after wounding a Holocaust Museum guard today.

I'm surprised that an 89 year old would do this and it sounds like the guards were on the guy pretty quickly. Sounds like a total of five shots between the geezer and the guards were fired.

Screams "death by Police Officer" to me.

I heard this on the news on the way back to the Station a few minutes ago but no details on the age of the assailant. Good for the Guard(s) he capped the guy. Bad for the Guard(s) he/they didn't finish the job . . . remember folks - Standard Minimum Response: Two Rounds Center Mass. . . . failing that one beween the eyes is the norm.

Aha! The shooter is James Wenneker von Brunn. He's well-known and admired in the white supremacy circles. I found this in a forum thread on stormfront.org...

James is a Gentleman I have great admiration for. From his biography:

"James W. von Brunn holds a BachSci Journalism degree from a mid-Western university where he was president of SAE and played varsity football.
During WWII he served as PT-Boat captain, Lt. USNR, receiving a Commendation and four battle stars. For twenty years he was an advertising executive and film-producer in New York City. He is a member of Mensa, the high-IQ society.
In 1981 von Brunn attempted to place the treasonous Federal Reserve Board of Governors under legal, non-violent, citizens arrest. He was tried in a Washington, D.C. When I first read his biography, I realized James Von Brunn had taken direct action to deal with the banking cartel that controls and destroys so much of our lives and somehow I had never heard of his heroic deed. How could that be? How could such an amazing deed go unremarked by the journals and books that deal with monetary systems and how we are controlled by them?

After speaking with James, I must conclude many who were in a position to shine light on the situation were afraid to do so.

James Von Brunn endured having his house burned down in retaliation for publishing books that the jews viewed as hostile to their financial interests. James endured jail and personal sorrows as a consequence of his refusal to submit to tyranny.

Not only was I standing at that very spot just 24 hours ago, my brother and a good chunk of his 8th grade class were there yesterday at the same time that the shooting occurred to day. I hope the shooter dies. Effing piece of shit.

Sounds like the guard that was shot is going to die. It's just a matter of time. You don't get assigned a condition of "grave" unless death is imminent.

My impression when I visited last year was that they were quite professional, much more so than the majority of security guards. The entrance and exits also seemed to be well designed to make a forced entry into the main musem a very difficult thing. The people who built the museum certainly knew what an attractive target it is for nutbags like this guy.

Unfortunately I'm used to dealing with the types of guards that do nothing but stare off into space every moment of the day, and are pretty much there with the sole objective of getting a paycheck.

The unfortunate comments I made earlier were in poor taste. I would imagine that the majority of security guards who protect our nation's treasures, esp those in such a high visibility area as DC, are professionals, whose background and training show as such.

OK, time to put a little controversy into the thread now that the initial "shock" is over.

I'm watching the NBC Nightly News, this is the top story and they're doing several full segments on it. Why is this such a big deal? It's only one of MANY murders in DC and/or any other big city each year, and only one person was killed. Yes, it happened in the Holocaust Museum and the gunman had a hatred for the place and what it represents, but show me almost any murder that doesn't involve some kind of hatred, whether it be workplace violence, domestic violence, a drive-by shooting, or any other, and those don't make the top of a nightly network national newscast.

Notably, the gunman was equipped with a .22 rifle. Stick that in your "ban assault weapons" pipe and smoke it.

Well, the murder of the soldier at the recruiting office has been getting virtually no coverage, but then that wasn't by a terrorist, just a self-declared jihadist... {crazy}

Worst thing, the ass*ole chose the Holocaust Museum to do it. Right on 14th street NW, one of the main routes out of the city. So of course tonight's commute sucked, thanks to our dead idiot.

And yes, I'm callous. When tractorman decided to drive his John Deere into the reflecting pool on the Mall a few years ago, he screwed up the commute for three days while he held out. More than a few commuters called for the Park Police to shoot the SOB. Same thing when some idiot threatened to jump from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge on the Beltway over the Potomac. News cameras actually captured some commuters yelling at the ass*ole to jump.
